I just got mine 2 weeks ago after my disappointment with the D300. Bought the 60mm f/2.8 macro and just pick up my AFS-VR 70-200mm f/2.8 love it since then. Thinking very hard whether to pick up the D3X? AF-S 14-24 f/2.8 on order though.
In these times please allow me to offer my congrats to you for the purchase. I assume you were supporting the local retail trade in their battle with reccession. Hope you enjoy yourself immensely.
The price hike really makes people think about buying it now. BBB.
Hehe me also thinking of moving from D90 to D700
But then apart my 50mm no other lens to really make use of the full frame format.
I'm wondering if i buy the 14-24 first of the body?
Wht you think guys???
The 14-24 lens is really super duper. I originally bought it for my serious landscapes only. However, after getting used to the 1 kilo weight, it has become my walkabout lens for 90% of the time.
You won't regret it if you buy the lens first.
But if I were in your position now, I would have bought my 14-24 from a US retailer such as B&H or Adorama rather than from the local shops. This is because local purchases of Nikon lenses only get you a 1 year warranty from Nikon Singapore. If you buy a Nikon Lens (USA not Grey) from an authorized USA NIKON retailer, you can get 5 years of warranty instead. The 1st year of warranty is honoured by Nikon Singapore (just like a local purchase) with the extended 4 years service provided by Nikon USA. For an expensive Nikon Lens, I think that the extra free warranty is much better. Besides, you can save a couple of hundreds of $$$ because the US$ is still below 1.5 to 1S$ today.
