just like to ask: did you just use the tamron 90mm alone or did you include those X2 or X4 macro filters ?
if macros are taken with flash, would it cast a lot of dark shadows ?

eh.. bro, you use the tamron with any other accessories? stacking? My guess is Nope. right? looks like you only use the 1:1 magnification.

and crop? eh. your vivtar how much ah? got nikon hotshoe adaptor or not? Me scouting for a better flash than my sb50DX.

Hi erictan8888, all these were taken with tamron 90mm lens with no other attachment, handheld with flash. Shadow is unavoidable unless you use twin flash or dual flash. Whether harsh or not really depends on many factor. You can play with different flash setting (ie power). Right now, it's the least worrying factor for me. Getting good BG and compo is what I'm working on now

Hi Mendis, most is uncropped... I think 2-3 picts I crop about 100-300 pixels away for better compo. My vivitar? Nah... it's those manual type with no ettl or whatsoever ($80 2nd hand). I use trial and error (manually adjust power) to shoot. Anyway, it's trigger voltage is high (6-12V) so not sure your cam can take it. Some say 350D can't take it while some say can. So far so good for me:sweat:

Great shots! The caterpillar is nice; good colours and details. The last pic of the jumper is the best, I find. Nice work on the manual flash. Was the diffuser on?

Hmm... actually, my setup is rather simple. Camera + lens + flash (with diffuser) mounted on hotshoe, tilted 90 to 45 degree.

i am certainly goin to get a better flash! no power la my sb50dx. The best thing about this SB50DX is its ability to tilt 18 degrees downwards. but.. can use up to f11 max. any more than that, underexposure. :thumbsd:

I have include the exif for the picts. You notice the setting is more or less the same. Natural light is not useable cos I'm shooting in the shade most of the time so I pump up the flash for proper exposure.
