personally, i won't get the G9, cos i won't pay $300 more just to have the RAW option since it almost the same as the A650 in every other way. it's just RAW in a better build. still the same 35 or 37mm equivalent, digic 3 processor blahblahblah. 35mm not very useful underwater for me ever since i got my hands on a DSLR...hehe
Yes u can use the dial with an ikelite housing
wah lau night bus to KL... i rather fly direct from SG to KK, sleep over and fly over in the morning
G9 has housing has the option to change port, and it comes with a HotShoe port for strobe connection.. no more flimsy optical cord hahaha
ops but u can only use ikelite strobes![]()
Wahaha~
Drowned cam?
Who so GUUD to you sia?
actually the sTTL from inon quite accurate leh..
Personally..... I agree with the ScubaCam ppl, that using Optic Fiber is bether than Syc Cord.
Yes.... syc cord will give you E-TTL and make most thing Auto and more fool prove. But that also means more opening in your casing that is expose to the seawater..... more chance for leak. With Optic Fiber..... all you need is to used the light from your PnS Camera's flash. No expose stuff.![]()
Sorry to hear about your cam - but good news is you have a good reason to shop for a new cam !
Tough choice re: which cam. The G9 is nice, but apart from the disadvantages antacid already mentioned, the other thing I don't like about the Canon stock housings are that they use one single o-ring (single point of failure) (fuji's for example use two o-rings) - one of the guys on our similans dive trip flooded and subsequently drowned his new Canon G9 that he bought just before the trip.
I like the Sea&Sea DX-1G (ricoh gx-100) because of the wide angle, RAW and great macro ability (1cm macro at 24mm and 4cm macro at full 72mm tele - nice)
actually the sTTL from inon quite accurate leh..
I heard that too, wondering is it the same person? Did you went Similan with antacid?
as far as i know there are no problems so far with the pre-flash in most compact cameras. to date i have used canon a95, a620, a640, s80, G7, G9, ixus750, ixus850, fuji F11, F30, F40, oly sp350, sp550 with the D2000 and D2000s strobes and no problem at all.Does the red eye reduction pre-flash from a fujifilm F31D or any P&S camera effective in making the sTTL works with a Inon D2000? Please advice. Or are there only specific cameras that can work with the sTTL mode?
Yeah, might be the same person. Yep, went on the same trip as antacid.

i usually turn off the red-eye reduction though, cos it wastes battery.
i've also used the strobes as a secondary flash (triggered by DS50) wtihout connecting the fibre optic cable. basically just leave the sensor open and leave it on STTL. lazy, lah. so i just control strobe power on the back of my camera housing without the need to fiddle with small knobs left and right
