My Food My Life

Ikabata Yaki, fried squid with garlic.
This was surprising good, considering I wasn't a squid guy.
You can finish 2 bowls of rice just with this!

Yakiniku.
Ok, this was unexpected. Not like the yakiniku you knew.
It's basically stir fried beef with fresh vegetables. I wouldn't say the beef was fantastic, but Mrs. Chako managed it well.

This was definitely the FOOD of the day.
Unagitamaju - Unagi with egg, on rice.
Seriously, the broiled Unagi is to die for! And the scrambled egg was so tender and juicy!

I've always thought that Tenpura is a waste of time. Seriously, frying something that was completely covered with flour, how good can that be?
But this is really different! The batter is well made and tasty, and it's not oily at all!
This tenpura is definitely worth trying!

Sukiyaki 寿喜烧
It was nice, but it was also the last dish served, as we were all full by then, the impact wasn't that great anymore ;p
A Japanese friend of mine used to teach me how to fully utilize that amazing sauce from Sukiyaki - After you've finished all the food, put in the rice and egg and soaked them for a couple minutes, then you will have Japanese style yummy egg coated fried rice! ;)

The Ojisan at the restaurant told us that the meal wouldn't complete without trying the homemade all natural ice-cream by Mrs. Chako.
So we ordered the mocha version.
Indeed it was pretty fresh and nice, but I have to warn you, it's not sweet at all. ;p

For supper, you'd have gotten seehum instead :bsmilie:

I no see cockles :sticktong
Had some escargots yesterday though.

After reading lotsa good reviews on this restaurant, I have always wanted to give it a go.
As I was aware of the long waiting time, pre-order was made a day earlier. Still, we have waited 1 hour for the food to be served. Anyway, it's worth the wait. ;p

How's pricing at this restaurant?

How's pricing at this restaurant?

Wasn't bad, +/- 20 per set, you get a main, rice, soup, tofu and salad.
Quality is top notch! Compared to those jap restaurant chains, it's cheap!

Aw Lam - a kind of spicy root, stewed with beef, mushroom and vegetable. Is a special Lao dish only available in Luang Prabang.

I would say, order a small bowl, share among a group, try it and forget about it. ;p

Soft-shell crab
Don't ask me why we ordered this... I remembered it was recommended by the waitress who served us. :embrass:
