Was flying at the barrage.. Trying to fly up.. Reached about 148m height.. Fpv video shows phantom doing a +/- 30 degree side to side ... Guess wind is too strong there.. Next moment fpv freezes - "lost connection".. Expected drone to switch to RTH mode.. It didn't.. Bye bye bird.. (Heart ache).. Waiting for the vision 2+ now.. Haha
Ya.. I usually do a rth trial before full flight. What I saw on my fpv is a rocking behavior. . My friends drone also rocks sideways violently at promenade waterway recently.. perhaps it's the sudden gust of wind.. I believe once it tilts to a certain limit.. The drone may just free fall. Anyone knows the air speed specifications?Wah, seems like there's lot of cases of flyaways. To prevent this, ensure that you have sufficient GPS signals and confirm home position before taking off (2 sets of rapid green flashes). The first set is to record IOC forward position and the 2nd set is to record home position. Only take off after you see the second set.
Also it is a good practise to do a compass calibration (remove all watches, keys, handphones etc) before your first take off, you would never know if the compass readings went off during transportation as the compass at the Phantom leg is very sensitive to any electromagnetic interference (this may also include car stereos in the boot, rebar under the concrete on the ground etc). Sometimes just flying or hovering above anything metallic can cause a compass error (slow red and yellow flashes) If you have IOSD installed, you can see it on the display.
Your best bet in an event of a flyaway is to switch to manual mode (even Atti doesn't help is most documented cases). Going into failsafe to make it come home and land may make things worst if the GPS or compass reading are screwed up in the first place.
Before leaving the house for every flight, its also good to do a basic/advance calibration on the Phantom Assistant and ensure that all the values fall within the range. It only takes a few minutes.

Ops. I realised we shouldn't "dilute" mayhemics thread to hijack his photo sharing. . Sorry Bro.
so where did your drone gone to?
My drone flew away recently too =(
I realized that the phantom 2 homing function does not really work if the GPS signal is not strong.... It drifted very fast with the wind. Especially when the sky is overcast
To all Phantom 2 owners... Take note of this

Sounds like MH370.... any other brands better than these? I'm going to some remote islands in FEB 2015... I want a unique perspective on the trip - a drone perhaps ( and a reliable one ! )
Hi, Can give some advice on whats the setting you use for gopro3 for those panoramas photos u shoot above? photo mode or multiple frame mode when fly up to shoot?
