MRT. Pretty, yet dangerous

OMG serious? Then you only woke up next morning when the train start moving again?
It is not that jialat, I figured that only approximately 45 minutes have elapsed when I was last conscious and when I awoke in the pitch dark carriage at around 8.00 pm to 9.00 pm. It was an extremely surreal feeling at first and I had to checked if I was alive or dead.

I stood up, walk to the end of the train before I saw some random chap walking on a platform quite some distance away which is when I started waving furiously at him though he continued walking while starring towards my direction. Anyway to cut a long story short, I was located and escorted out of the train and into a golf buggy after I called Service 100 and requested for the telephone number of the deport.

hmm. then why now sg still not blown to smitereens yet ar?

its not easy to catch as u had raised, but it will certainly limit the scope of what the guys can do. well protected mrt depots will eliminate one possibility there already
Because we have some really superb intelligence units such as the Internal Security Department (ISD), the lesser known SAF Security and Intelligence Division (SID) and SPF Police Intelligence Department (PID), it takes a lot of effort to organise and pull of a terrorist attack and the "chatters" generated by the terrorist cell groups while doing so can be picked up through a combination of coordinated local and global Signals Intelligence (SIGINT) analysis and through undercover Human Intelligence (HUMINT) operatives.

Contrary to what some member had said "... because they can't be bothered, we are a small dot...", Singapore have time and time again faced some very credible threats from terrorists organisation including attempted bombings of the Yishun MRT Station and foreign embassies based in Singapore to hijacking of aircrafts, chemicals or Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) carriers before crashing them into air and sea ports respectively. This are just some of the incidents that have been reported on the news and I believed that it is only the tip of the iceberg with many cases classified as confidential and going unannounced.

Clementi Camp housing 2 PDF just next to Ulu Pandan MRT Deport is protected with electrical fence and they are pretty obvious from the PIE towards Tuas. ;)

Most camps are also installed with Perimeter Fence Intrusion Detection System.

Hi Bro.... just came back from work. Yeah you are correct. The fence facing PIE does have an electric wiring running along side it (I don't drive, so never saw it).... but the fence bordering UPD doesn't. That why the lizards & birds lives. :bsmilie:

See what the Swiss govt can do... to escape the fate of Michael Faye.

are electrical wires around fences meant to electrocute people or simply as a way to know that the fence has been compromised? I would think that it is the latter and more as a detection device rather than one that is used to prevent people from coming close by giving them an electrical shock.

I mean if someone cuts a hole in the fence. Then the voltage cannot completes a loop. So the control station would know there is a hole somewhere and send their patrol to investigate. No?

Though it is vandalism, I am unsure if they can be seen in the same light. The former is blatantly challenging the Traffic Police while the latter is a mischievous act.

Anyway, I think Swiss should still extradict the offender. Hopefully the punishment that he gets is to help SMRT spray all of its trains in vibrant and exciting colours.

everything is relative.

terrorists target places everywhere. certainly our intelligence units and law enforcement agencies and anti-terrorism organisations deserve some credit, but i really don't think singapore is as targeted as many other countries.

It's a blessing for SG that mas selamat got away..... :bsmilie:

you have to understand the reasons and logic for terrorism, in particular the type and modus operandi of the variety of terrorism that singapore is more likely to be subjected to.

ahaha anyways, update from today news. erm. mrt guy i think ur wrong abt the internal investigation one. according to news paper its actually only reported to ur bosses on 19th, and they immediately called police:)

as to naimeh, whether it is relative or not, so long as there is a threat, shldnt we be prepared against it? when ur driving a car, u buy insurance, even though u do not plan to bang it into anything lar. same as most of us having uv filters as cheap insurance for lenses. unlikely it may be, its always better to have security, to prevent any potential attempts.

and yay! mrt has upped security by installing barbed fences. short of the zappy electronics, but it will do for now i guess. more cctvs, more ppl patrolling.

Trust me.... always internal investigation 1st. Mainly on how to cover one's backside. :nono:

Yesterday while at work at the depot.... saw some management type guy on a bicycle, going around the depot and taking photo of the fence.

In my view... pointless to add more camera when you don't have the extra manpower to monitor what the camera see at all times. And I really doubt SMRT would employ a group of ppl doing nothing but watch the CCTV 24hr a day.

As for patrol.... what can 1 or 2 old uncle riding a bicycle do if they were to meet an intruder ?? Fight ?? And I can tell you after more than 10yrs of working there.... plenty of place to hide from 'patrolling uncles'....

Sharing the same thought too, but somehow he will not escape being caned, a high price to pay for the sake of art.

Don't agree entirely...Sg is not as targeted as many other countries due to that we are not entirely Christian nation nor Muslim nation etc. The multi religious actually helps. However, with the high profile F1, MBS & RWS, high efficient image of SPF...Terrorists definitly hope to challenge...tell the world that they are unstoppable coz even Sg which is famous for being safe, can't escape too;p

If I am not wrong, if it is not done on government property, it is considered as mischief, thus no canning, just fine.

Now the question is "Is SMRT government property ?"

The fence he cut is under LTA.... while SMRT is a listed company.... it is closely link to Temasek. Most ppl also consider SMRT as a GLC company.

But I agree that lawyer would most likely would use what you said to reduce the sentence to mischief.
