Did the exposure change when using DRO+5?

The difference is really incredible, not only did the brightness increase but the colors were brought out as well.

Nope the exposure did not change between the 2 shots.. shot in Manual mode.. the difference is indeed very big.. This was just a very rough test.. but I could not see much "artifacts" in the highlight when pixel-peeping also.. So i would say the DRO function is quite well controlled.. The good thing is a700 lets you choose 5 levels (plus some auto DR).. so can choose the level you are comfortable with... +5 in this case loses some contrast in the sky.. probably cos the shadows were lighter..

haha, what's cynide to one might be chlorofoam to another.

from what i see, a handful has taken the cynide liao, a few still in chlorofoamed state.

and the rest................. let's see how long their antidotes last.;)

Hope you guys don't mind me posting it in this thread instead of starting a new one just for this.

To be entirely honest though, since it won't work with RAW capture without using Sony's software, this function is useless for RAW shooter.

However, for those who is already in CS3, there is a function for this and you probably have more control and more flexibility. You just need to know how to shoot it right.

Hart

to gremlin.
i had started dslr less then half a year ago.
at first, i was considering nikon but later i end up with sony, and i am happy.
if you ask me why i chose sony, it's simple.
:it's has carl zeiss lens and G lens.
it's has super steady shot(which makes all the sony's lens consider anti shake lens, no need of extra cash like the nikon VR lens)
for image sensor, only cannon and sony have the factory to built sensor.so i believe sony can come out with something.( i think)
lastly, i am just a sony fan.

my case is abit different gremlin, due my impulse,i brought a canon without looking at other brands b4hand,so is now planning to start afresh.my current lens setup is jus the 50mm 1.8 and a 24-104 f4L
althru i am quite ok with the system(pleased with the 24-105f4L),i dun really like the colour of canon, wat will be the similar i am looking at, preferablly ard 24-70 range at 2.8 or same as the 24-105 f4
