I just got my hands on a 24mm f/2.8 Elmarit-R (eff. FL 36mm on NEX-7). First shots show that it's plenty sharp for the sensor through the middle 70% or so of the APS-C frame, but appears to be soft with a purpose around the edges. Went back and read Puts and that's exactly what he says--that its intended use is reportage. With that in mind, it's gonna be fun learning to exploit the characteristics of this piece of glass. Forget landscape, think street. ;p

Anyone interested in this particular FL of R glass should read its history, as my more recently-made copy is vastly better than an earlier version I tested.

you want glow bro get Jupiter-3 and 9 :-) cheaper than any leica check out this review of Jupiter 3 :-)

JUPI-WHAT? Shooting Jupiter Lenses on the Leica M9 by Robert Chisholm | STEVE HUFF PHOTOS

quoted from the site above :-)

"
The Jupiter 3 is magical when shooting wide open and continues to be excellent when stopped down. It would excel for anyone who enjoys shooting people and needs something faster than f2. Of the Jupiters, it is the clear lens to own, if you can get a good copy and then have it adjusted to focus properly. The Jupiter 3 is good enough to be one of my main lenses, and has replaced any interest I might have had in trying a Leica fast 50. However, I will be keeping and shooting both the Jup 3 and Jup 8 lenses. They are unique in the images they produce, and frankly, it is a blast to use these relic lenses on my modern M9!

Not just the Jupiter range Bro, so far I'm pretty amazed by all the FSU lenses I've tried.
I started off with a couple of FSU lenses thinking it would be a cheap way to experiment with legacy lense on the way up to the Zeiss and Lieca, darn was I dead wrong ! I'm so into FSU lenses now I lost interests in 'moving up' to their western counterpart.

They're cheap (and simple) enough to experiment on opening up and cleaning the lens yourself and I've gain great respect for what goes into these cheap lenses after opening, cleaning, re-lubricating, aligning up and putting the whole lens together again. the process is really like finding an unpolished diamond.

Maybe I'll start a new thread to share my FSU journey.... ;)

True I must agree with you bro... I still have a couple of FSU that I call keepers... One of these days let's go out and shoot using our FSU lenses :-)

BTW bro how many FSU lenses you have now? Yeah open up a thread for FSU so regardless of mirrorless model you using we could all share our experiences :-)

Sounds good, I've already got some CLA process photos taken. But I think better to keep it in the Sony NEX forums, I've lend some of my FSU lense to buddies with M4/3 gears and they're not very pleased with the results, FSU lens on Nex cams with the 1.5X crop factor may look good, it's totally a different thing on a M4/3 sensor with the 2X crop.

Yeah I did have m4/3 before when I started going back to mirrorless and sold most of my FSU back then and now with NEX 7 I am drawn back to FSU... I sold that particular FSU and buy another copy of it when I gotten my NEX-7 it was awesome, sharpness was close to my Leica-Rs but when pixel peep Leica-R wins it show so much details but if you compare the price it's was like heaven and earth with that I could say that FSU lens that I have is shoulder to shoulder with my Leica's

Yeah I would suggest bro you create a thread NEX with FSU lenses.... Then we could share our experiences there :-)
