Hi fellow CS'ers;

Just wanted to ask ard and see if anyone knows if there are any free programs available to tweak or to modify the GUI/startscreen of WinXp?

Kindly advise.

Cheers! :)

If you are talking about WinXP themes, try www.themexp.org.

There are a few freeware utilities there to change GUI, but the best is not free - I have tried StyleXP but didn't bother to register/pay the shareware, so after the trial, I uninstalled it.

Actually you can
the bootup screen is a 640 x 480 256 color bitmap within ntoskrnl.exe

Resource edit the file and replace the bitmap.

not recommended for the inexperienced :)

Can view how to here

http://www.virtualplastic.net/html/logo_scr.html#xpboot

change the scrolling bar's color too.

Using Windows 2003 now but never try, so dun try on windows 2003 yet... :)
