we are the official distributor of the X-Drive II in Singapore and we have some units of X-Drive-II coming to Singapore early next week (starting from 19th May).

It has come to our attention that some shops are selling parallel import versions of the X-Drive II. Do note that:
1) They have no direct contacts with the manufacturer and hence servicing will go through a 3rd party which may be lengthy, difficult and troublesome.
2) They do not provide the car charger and have no intention of bringing in the car charger or any other additional accessories for the X-Drive II.
3) The AC adaptor provided is heavier, of poorer built quality and has no earthing properties.
4) Carry bag provided is not original, of poorer quality and does not carry the X-Drive II logo
5) No local warranty or servicing provided since parallel importers do not carry spare parts needed for servicing.

Note on extra Li-Ion batteries

I have been advised by the manufacturer that the Li-Ion battery is meant to be built in and NOT meant to be removable. Removing the battery requires unscrewing to remove the casing and removal of harddisk from the casing. It is definitely not easy to remove the battery while on the go and you would risk damaging the internal circuits if you change and swap batteries too often. It also does not make sense to keep a spare battery in case the original battery fails as it is a known fact that Li-Ion has a shelf life of about 1 year. Your spare battery will deteriorate at the same rate as your original battery. If your original battery do fail after 1 year, our company will offer replacement batteries for sale at a special price to our customers. We will also be offering an external battery pack that uses AA size Ni-MH rechargable batteries very soon for those who wants to prolong the usage of the X-Drive-II. Our experience show that the latest Ni-MH batteries outlast the internal Li-Ion battery pack.

Hand-ichy.... thinking of getting one.

My friend got a quote from one of the shops in SLS.
No HDD -->198 (Incl Gst) --> Before Single Purchase discount/Bulk discount.

It has the sticker X-Drive 2, Carrying Case ...etc
It seems the car-charger also all included. Its like exactly what you are offering. Warranty is 1 year also.

But My friend said dunno if the shop at sls for real or not,as the salesman seemed very eager to put down the phone.

Can someone verify if its real ?

perhaps you would want to confirm your sources before posting your speculation in this MO thread. I noticed you have similarly disrupted other MOs before.

The shops in SLS are carrying parallel imports of the X-Drive II. Parallel imports of the X-Drive II do not have the car charger and do not have official warranty.

EastGear.com is the only authorised distributor of the X-Drive II in Singapore. We will not provide support or service any X-Drive II bought from parallel importers.

Customers are advised against buying from parallel importers as they do not have direct contacts with the manufacturer and hence do not have the means to provide proper support for the X-Drive II. The X-Drive II is just one out of hundreds of products sold in the shops.

Why are you so denfensive? I am not selling X-Drive at all. If you've noticed, I have not crashed any people's MO. I ask questions which are vaild and product related.

I am unlike some who directly post pricing of XX dealers/Shops in YY dealer's MO thread to try to get them to lower price and such. Their main intention is to create trouble.

I am just asking if it is for real ...has anyone been to SLS and tried to ask for a quote.

They use Fujitsu harddisk which is cheaper
No car charger
No local warranty or support as the X-Drive II are parallel imports (try going back to them and ask questions if you have problems with your X-Drive II and they will direct you to the manufacturer in Taiwan)
