Hi all fellow CS members!

I am looking out for the above product and has contacted the head company for a mass order quote.

General:
- As some would have known, this USB2.0 OTG device is a convenient, easy-to-use portable storage partner thats allows the user to backup his or her data, from most major card formats.

Features:
- One unique feature is that it reads xD cards direct without need of a seperate adapter as most other such devices will normally require.
- Another interesting feature is that its outer exterior is a tat rubbery in touch to help in anti-slip gripping, ie sweaty palm circumstances.

Warranty:
- Warranty is 1 year as offered by the head company, on top, on goodwill as the MO starter, I will bear the 1st 2 weeks 1:1 product protection (excl. manufacturers' faults).

Remarks:
- Each unit will comes with NO harddisk attached, but detailed installation instructions will be provided.
- Each unit comes with a power adaptor which would indicate RED for battery charging, GREEN for completed charging.

More details of this item can be found here:

To be honest:
- For your information, I have made a point to check and compare prices local hereabouts. Unless mistaken, currently there is 2 related articles on sale at Sim Lim Square:
1. QCool OTG II (same as shown here) going for S$99, incl GST.
2. Another Make (model unavailable) without LCD display (think LED Display only) going for S$60, incl GST.

Offer:
- I have managed to work out an agreement with the head company for a direct bulk purchase at the special price of S$79, where shipping at this price can be included upon a minimum order of 20pcs least. On top, the company is also willing to throw in a leather-like protection pouch, all which I believe making this already one of the best price ever for an OTG storage device with such characteristics.

Payment:
- To be fair to all parties, a 50% downpayment is necessary before any order is considered confirmed.

Delivery:
- Arrangements can be made for collection (around 2 weeks time after all the 20 orders are confirmed) at the following locations:
a. CityHall
b. Chinatown
c. Jurong East

Interested parties, you can add yourself to the flwg reservation list or pls feel free to PM me if you have any queries. Same goes for kind Moderators, do feel free to step in where deemed necessary.

NOTE: NO BANAL/OT PLEASE, THANK YOU.

i would like to know what is the transfer rate?

upz for you

would wait for the second MO, not because I don't trust it, but because I am currently short of cash... :bsmilie:

To answer a couple queries:

1. Transfer rate is listed as USB2.0. Cardwise,on the one good sample i tested with, 1 gb CF (normal) took under 10min, ~7-8min.

2. Battery power is represented by 4 bars on the LCD. On the prelim testing, coming to 3 cards (1 gb CF normal) took down 1 of 4, off a 1st round full charge. Just personally, I anticipate more of a plug-in powered use (ie office, hotel etc), as I dont see very regular very common situations where exceeding 300 (~360) shots avail on a 1gb card within 1 single day (or prior a 'pitstop' - meaning coming to an avail power plug), even on my tours. Again this is solely personal, for those insisting power, I might actually suggest other more popularised devices in the market now, as this could be a great-buy gadget. Epson P-2000 is definitely on the other end of the scale, but worth every penny too!

3. Colours are avail as shown. My personal preference flws the test sample I came across which is silver and looks fine.

4. Min order of 20pcs is a quote offered to me. In order to be fair to some interested buyers who may worry about prolong or delay, I would pop them (the co.) an offer to deal once say least 10pcs are confirmed. Hope this satisfy all.

A matter of trust, both the product mentioned herein and the thread poster (aka me!) is subjective. Again as already stated in my first post, you can actually get to view (and fiddle) with this item on the 6th? floor of Sim Lim Square. Pricings are open too. Hopefully everyone interested in getting such an article gets to share in a discount. Nothing ventured nothing gain.

Is the built-in lithium ion battery replaceable?

I didnt get to check that out, but theres detailed instruction to screw out the whole casing, so it may likely be possible, again replacement via manufacturer (or local agent) possibly.

Additional point here, when spoken to the head co., recall the person mentioned about an available 4xAA battery holder with a power plug (to fit the power socket of the unit) that can serve as a power backup pack. I cannot assumed its included at this point and will push for it again after coming up to 10 confirmations for the standard package as already described. No guarantee pls, to be fair.

whats the warranty like?

Thanks the Wolf Man..some more queries, which i prefer to open up for transparency.

1) Does it work without the battery as normal external hdd ?

Foremost the lithium batt is builtin, you can use (activate) the unit charged (unplugged), or WHILE socket power plugged (aka charging). it functions just like an hdd in a ext case, connectable via USB. note this thread is just for the casing, hdd is SEPARATE.

2) The batteries, after die out, can replace? (just reconfirm)

Pls refer to my earlier reply, in one above post. Personally i dont see myself relying overtly on any batteried unit, be it this or any other model (except possibly the Epson P-2000..) as i foresee my use as entirely a travel (8-10hrs up) or emergency companion (the next most affordable thing after a fail-safe server) prior the next pitstop, ie evening hotel check-back. One reason is preserving the batts AND the hdd, the other is simply no urgent CODE RED need day to day! [if you do, then high time to call Epson really.] Thanks.

3)What kind of cable is it using?

USB: If not wrong, recall either a A-plug or Mini-B plug USB on unit leading out to a normal USB male.
Power: 1-pin plug socket on unit leading out to a power adaptor with a 2-pin power plug (to wall). The power adapter shows a GREEN (charged-remove) / RED (charging) simple LED.

4)$79 includes shipping?

So far, the last offer from them is as such for min 20pcs order, but i will raise to deal once 10pcs are firmed (min payment paid) to avoid delays/prolongs. Again no guarantee pls, to be fair once more.

5) whats the warranty like?

Pls refer to my original post. For running this 1st time, I am offering to front for a 2 weeks 1:1 protection for fellow Cs-ers. Thereafter whatever wty/servcing be required to be sent/shipped back to the manufacturer. Very honestly speaking, my personal experience with such devices is that they either work in hands, or they dont! Thereafter it is a lot of personal caretaking to maintain the hdd inside AND overall integrity of the whole unit on the part of the owner. [I have a softy cushy water resistant carrier just on standby for this already.] Thanks.

6) Had you used it yet / had a sample of it?

I have played with a 1-time charged piece (a new working sample with the hdd installed in front of us) and from it already satisifed all my requirements for such a buy..fact I and my friends were prepared to pay $99 for it each! but again said, nothing ventured, nothing gained. hopefully everyone interested gets a share-in discount.

head company is where? which country? so if case if faulty after 2 weeks, buyer will have to post back to the head company to claim warranty? How about receipt? Original individual receipt by the head company or by you?

thanks. :)

Thank the King..

1. Source:
Company is nased in China Guangzhou, though they have agents here and in HK, think manufacture in Shenzhen. Believe this as with most such devices nowsaday.

2. Receipt:
Receipt will be issued by the Company [not me! i wish so too..]

can u provide more absolute details like on full charge, how many GB of data transfer can it last?

thx

The last round I was just able to transfer across 3 cards worth (same card 1gb Kingston Normal was feeded with ~full load x 3) and recall 1 bar of batt was lost. But thats off a 1 time, 1st time full charge.

Even if i can try to get my hands on one working sample again, though this bit be tricky, it shouldnt be any further than that last battery behaviour as it still wont be a seasoned battery.

oooh la la! great MO!! :) upz for u bro!!

thks bro..but sad to say, it has been anything BUT great..tackling all the queries!!!

NOW i know how tough to run a MO...even if theres no significant margin i stand to gain, just a shared buy-in exercise!
