PhotoBank USB2.0 Digital Storage
I wondered if this has ever happen to you before: Out in the scenic view, but you cannot take in more photos on your digital camera, as the you've have reached the storage limits of your memory card. Reluctantly, you can only bring back these few photographs as memories. Or maybe you planned ahead and brought along your laptop. However, carry the expensive heavy laptop with limited battery life, and worried about lost of your thing, may spoil your trip instead.
What if you can find a small lightweight device, with its own battery, and ability to copy information from different memory cards instantly when you are outdoors??

The PhotoBank is such a device, barely larger than its internal 2.5" hard disk, with a weight of 145g on its own. It can be carried easily. The silver grey exterior, with a blue back-light gives it a modern look. Also, the PhotoBank has adopted an All In One design, with slots compatible with all of the current mainstream memory cards, like CF1/2, MD, SD, MMC, MS, SM, XD. The different memory cards are automatically recognised. It is also able to function with a hard disk with multiple partitions, automatically copying the information to the next partition when the initial partition is filled. Copying the data is a simple as pressing a button.
The PhotoBank can be charged in two different ways, via USB or AC power adaptor. The internal 3.6V 1200mAh Lithium battery can be charged in 3 hours, and can be continuously be used for 2.5 hours.

Special features
  • Supports :CFI/CFII MicroDrive MS/MS-PRO/MS-DUO/MS-PRO DUO SD MiniSD MMC RS MMC SM.
  • Supports direct power supply mode, 24 hours uninterruptedly power supplies.
  • High-speed coping, reading speed up to 8Mbps max.
  • USB2.0 port, allowing the PhotoBank to function like a portable hard drive or a card reader
  • Easy operation: One touch for copy data files in memory cards.
  • All in One design, automatically recognize multi-subsection of hard disks; when the first partition is stored full, automatically redeposit to the second or subsequent(depends on subsection mode).
  • It will creates a new folder on hard disk to save newly transferred files each time the “ Copy” button is pressed. Therefore, no matter the contents in memory card are the same or not, it will not overwrite previous files.
Performance Tests
During performance testing, we used a 40GB 5400RPM 2.5" hard drive, divided into two drives. The first drive has a capacity of 21GB. Many OTG casings have a simple indicator light, while the PhotoBank has a large LCD display with a blue background to indicate major parameters within a glance. Details like the capacity of current drive, type of memory card detected, data memory size, data transmission progress and battery status can view easily.

As a portable hard drive, the PhotoBank is provided with a USB2.0 port, allowing data transfer speed of 8MB/S to computers. This is comparable to an internal 2.5" hard drive of a laptop. The data transfer speed from memory cards to the PhotoBank is also very fast, 128MB requiring 40-50 seconds, while 256MB requires only 2.5 minutes.

Yah... Sounds 2 cheap to hav harddisk included in that price... Made in china? Got warranty? Spoilt liao look for who?

I will check with my friend.

What is the largest card size (stored data) it can support for internal transfer to the internal harddisc.

My present photobank cant go more than 999mb and the version older only support 512mb

SLS selling similar OTG for $69 also.

yah, you are correct... the price is for casing onli... yes, it is made in China...

for warrenty issues, we've contacted the supplier... we would be able to provide the warrenty terms as follows...
  • Only against manufactuer defects or malfuction and not against wear and tear.
  • two weeks one-to-one exchange policy
  • 6-months warrenty (exclude postage charges)

actually, there is not much difficulty in getting a 2.5" hard drive from PRC... but the shipping and warrenty issues is not worth the savings... imagine that you'll have to send the hard drive back to China to get a replacement... and the wait can be very long...

i also heard... but it was the price quoted if you also bought a 2.5" hard drive from them as well...

which shop did you get it from??

Ah Xiong: Goy lobang for similar but using AA rechargeable batteries instead??

I've seen other OTG devices that uses AA batts... but they are mostly MP3 players with limited storage... also cannot find any portable 2.5" drives that is powered by AA batts....

I will keep a look out, but more difficult if there is no reference devices... cos nothing to show to the suppliers to see if they have such lobangs... :dunno:

Ha,ha....easiest reference is compactdrive (though it is not an OTG) or this Consus unit with an external AA battery pack.

that is why we are allowing the 2 weeks of 1-to-1 exchange... where we will exchange to give you a brand new unit if the unit purchased is faulty... we presume that any technical faults would have been noticable by then... as there are no moving parts within the casing... the main foreseen problem would be a faulty connection of specific wires...

after the 2 weeks, we will also arrange for the faulty unit to be sent back to China for repairs/exchange... the mail now to China can be very fast, but depends a lot on how much you are willing to spend on postage lor...

Faster, Better, Safer, Slicker & More Powerful

The CompactDrive is a hard disk based device that backups data (photos, video, documents etc.) from a memory card to the internal hard disk without the need for a computer or external power source. It is extremely useful for people like photographers who shoot a lot of digital photos but do not wish to buy multiple cards. With the CompactDrive, you can simply download the memory card data into the device and free up the card for more shots. At the end of the day, just connect the CompactDrive via USB to your computer to access the photos. A CompactDrive cost less than a tenth of the cheapest memory card of similar capacity, so why buy multiple memory cards when a CompactDrive is all you ever need.

MSRP US$149 (w/o HDD)

Saw the set yesterday at the shop,
layout is the same as the photoBank set.

Find not much differences between the 2 sets.

ic... hmm, if this Qcool can support 1GB cards and onwards... then i think this is a very good deal... instant payment for collection, and with warrenty...

so far, my supplier has not confirmed if his device can support 2GB cards yet... :(
