Still in ICT, maybe able to make it. otherwise will arrange another day.
My is the 2X TC for canon mount.

any ideas if the aperture will be recorded correctly in the camera with the tc attached?

With the TC attached, I still can set the max aperture of the lens instead of 1 stop down.

Any one?

Yes happen to me too, what lens are you using?. I tested it on my 70-200 VR and I am still able to set it at 2.8. Funny ??.

kenghor - any ideas?

1) When i attached 1.4X + 100-400(4.5-5.6) on my EOS 5 , The camera will automatic calculate the aperture, that's mean min aperture is 6.7-8.0 & the AF will disable.
2) When i taping the 3 pin at 1.4X , the aperture remain the same. (4.5-5.6) & the camera able to perform AF.
Hope this info can clear your doubt.........

I did not tape the 3pins. I will want to camera to calculate the new apertures with the tc - but does not seem to happen. BTW, I'm using nikon d70

I'm not very sure....

When I use the Canon 300mm f4 IS lens stacked with original EF 1.4x and EF 2x TC, the camera reports that the apeture is f8 although by right it should be f11. So what I did is to dail it to f11.

Under Apeture piority mode, the camera should give u correct exposure when the apeture is set correctly.

I am also using the D70 and I also want the camera to calculate the aperture correctly but does not happen. Tested also with a 50mm f1.8 also the same.

There is the possibility of the TC not fully compatible with your camera, especially the newer models...
What's more important is that at other smaller apeture, the camera does make correct exposure. And when u set it to say f8 and take a shot, your camera does indeed record that the picture is taken at f8.

It does seems like the camera is not making the correct exposure when it is dialed to the wrong f number (smaller than it is supposed to be), in fact it will be underexposed ?. Quality wise also not as good as the original but of cause the price also not as good lah.

I have tried the 1.4x and 2x Nikon original and it seems to be OK and much better build. Well lesson learned not to buy 3rd party without testing or end up as a tester. I just can't stand small deviation like this. Lens up for grabs, any reasonable offer ??.

Hmm tested with 70-200 mm and 50 mm (canon) both report the correct apperture (1.4x and 2x) ... probably it dependent on the lenses ??? btw nice to meet all of you during MO collection .. maybe should go on the next SEED to meet more folks :bsmilie:

Perhaps the focus point is different? The camera meters through the lens, so it sees through the tele and should give accurate exposure.
