Seems that the local price for the 5D is too expensive.
Anyone interested to order from US? Even with GST and shipping, it cost just around $6K! $500 cheaper!
I won't be bothered with the local warranty!

but is it allowed to ship into singapore ?

:what:

~$27,000 HKD when released but due to demand it was once as high as ~$30,000 HKD. Seems like US still cheaper if its $3300.

Japan, I think you can ask TMC.

I heard from a local dealer(shall not mention name) that some our local shops are filling a complaint regarding this mass-order thingy. Dont know how true this is but anyway, who doesnt want good price right?

Complain to who?
We are now living in a global city.
If they want to stay alive, then they better force down the price to be more competitive!

They wrote a formal complain to Canon Marketing and now they(Canon people) are looking into the matter. Well I hope they just sit on it. And you're damn right about the pricing here. Very dodgy.

Well we only do items that are overpriced particularly in SG. So they want to case out of it? Bring it on!

i personally told the staff in canon too, prices are not realistic compared to the rest of the region.

Anyone know if the higher price is due to Canon Sg or the local dealers?

Considering that the salary in US is higher, that makes camera equipment even cheaper over there. Really don't understand why it's relatively more expansive here...

So, the dealer want Canon Marketing to ban US dealers from shipping cameras overseas? Or preferably, ask Canon Sg to sell cheaper to them... :)

or make it more ex over there .... coz it obviously looks like some cheapo stuff and most people has it as compared to here . They should be more sensible with their pricing and values of quality time to wake up their damn ideas:rolleyes:

Could you elaborate on this? Like where you heard this from and how did a bunch of local retailers get together and acted collectively on this? Most shops here are at each other's throats.

Just like parallel Car Importer, One can "import " a 5D from else where... right?

Agreed. If consumers are willing to accept restricted support from local disributors here, just as with the cars, there should not be any probs with purchasing cheaper items overseas.

Even Vpost has a service for you to ship items not available in Singapore over at a lower price.
