MO: 2GB Sandisk Ultra II

Since Clubsnap/Eastgear is give a great offer for the Lexar, I will cancel this MO for the Sandisk.

U guys should support Clubsnap. Moreover it is also easier to deal with Eastgear on warranty issues.

That's if they have enough stocks. The thread's closed anyway. Sheesh I leave office punctually for once and I miss all these.

Wonder if dell can deliver to my friend's place by 29th, can get my friend to bring it back.

In case you still want you order Ultra II 2GB from Dell.com, you can use this coupon: MW88$GZPNWM74C expiring 22/9 (US time). It will give you $35 off $350. As I tried, once you ordered two pieces, you can enjoy the discount. Final price for 2 pieces including taxes is US$316.65.

After factor in GST and shipping via VPost, each card cost about S$288. It's cheaper than the $299 80x Lexar, though the speed is a bit slower and it may take longer to deliver.

one thing i think you guys need to notice is not only the CF to camera but also CF to PC speed. i think extreme is the fastest.

the time for a 2G card transfer to PC is much important than the time for DSLR in single shoot.

Tested on a D100, D1X, D2H.

1GB Lexar WA 40X wins 1GB Extreme in burst continous modes timing by 3-5s.

Nobody is really interested in CF to cemera, that is for reviewing, not that critical, instead we care more about camera to CF speed for continuous shooting.

As for CF->PC, well, at least to me it's not that critical, a few minutes slower doesn't really matter.

I believe WA plays a big part. On Canon cameras, Extreme/Ultra II will be faster than 40x cards.

Didn't know that the offer by clubsnap is limited. So I've placed my order for the Sandisk.

I've 2 extra cards. Let me know if any of u wants to have it. Cost should be around $300. Should receive the card by 8 Oct. PM me if u are interested.

weekh i take your extra card..

just saw that thread & its locked...

anyway, do you need me to pay a deposit? i just transfer the full amt to you, since i met you before, i trust you.

Your assumption that Extreme is the fastest in the CF to PC test may not be totally correct.

There was no comparison between the Extreme & Lexar 80X in the CF to PC Speed test, because the Lexar 80X 2nd Edition was not involved in the test.

Footnote from RobGalbraith.com:

http://www.robgalbraith.com/bins/multi_page.asp?cid=6007-6133

"Though the write-speed of the near-final 80X cards tested is promised to be representative of production 80X second cards, as of this writing Lexar was still working to optimize card-to-computer transfer rates. Therefore, we've opted to not report throughput data for these cards until we have full production 80X second edition cards in-house for testing."

which means the Extreme is still the fastest now among the cards tested at Rob's site for card-to-computer.....

also, interestingly, Kingston Elite Pro is currently the fastest on D2H and 1DMkII.

Have to place another order for the Sandisk
Anybody else wanna order?

I've placed 2 separate orders for the Sandisk. Seems that the 1st order is now in backorder while they are still processing the 2nd.
A bit slow as compared to BH Photo / Adorama.

Hopefully they can ship to Vpost US by next Thursday so that we can receive it by 8 Oct. Else we'll have to wait for at least another week.

I ordered one piece around the same time as you did, and cancelled it when the 2GB 80x Lexar MO came out. If not, my order will face the same delay. Sigh! The only good online shopping site is Amazon, very quick and reliable. Bad sadlly, I missed their deal of 1GB 80x Lexar for less than US$80 last weekend.

This must be the worst mail order company that I've ever encountered!

Slow and have problem getting them to cancel my order.

Advice: Get your camera stuffs elsewhere!
