[Mio Cade] - Philippines (NGO project)

Wow! It move me!
The expression, the composition and I'm totally speechless!

Thank you for your support :)

And thank you for the many who PM me. Sorry I could not reply so many PM and my box is getting full daily. I will reply some of your query here.

[1] Yes it is extremely difficult to shoot in hazardous environment.
[2] I used Nikon, Canon, Sony, Oly and Pentax...so does not matter to me.
[3] Some like my processing, some said over processed. But to me it depends on what occasions. So my advice to newbies are to see beyond processing. Get your composition right and get you exposure right too. Dare to break the rule.
[4] To me the most difficult of photography is capturing the expression and the soul.
[5] Landscape ? Nah... I do not purposely take them unless I am there and at the right time. I would not let in control me...certainly I would not wait for days, hours just to capture the scene....coz it is just not me.
[6] HDR ? Sometimes, but usually not...coz my subjects are mainly for reportage purposes.
[7] Years of DSLR experience ? Since July 2008.
[8] Am I offended by some naive comment ? No, because they are naive and I do not have to be one. So, I will ignore them else I will deem myself as being childish and give them the room to continue their non productive act.
[9] What consider a good image? An image that let you think and do something about it. Just like what you are doing now..wondering, thinking and asking me questions in PM.
[10] My favorite photographer...has to be Werner Bischof
[11] Who used my photos ? Anyone with a purpose to help... incuding certain newly elected President ;)
[12] Risk and danger ? Yes, very much. You got to be quick, brave, put others before your own life, and be prepared for the worst.
[13] Camera I like most ? No, they are just a tool to me...does not matter if they got damage but human life is more important.
[14] Do I shoot with friends? Usually, I am alone.
[15] My favorite lenses ? 18-200 and 10-20
[16] Exhibition ? Yes and soon... in Singapore, Bali and LA..but for raising funds.

Sorry, I hope I have not left out any other query :(

Ulingan, Tondo - Hotter than Hell!
This is what you will encounter when visiting the charcoal factory:

[1] Heat : 42 degree Celsius. Your skin would turn red and later black.
[2] Smoke : Could choke you to death and visibility is almost only 30%
[3] Sadness : When you look at those half naked little dark figures working in the factory.
[4] Danger : Occasionally you may step into nails and sharp fragment of wood.

I feel for this pair of siblings.

This young boy was protecting his little brother (or sister..as i can't tell) by shielding him using his body. And this little baby brother was so comfortably sleeping on his thighs.

The boy was so tired. And he dozed off. But if you move near him, he would be so alert and straight away shielding his brother with his shirt and cover his own face with his hand.

He has such shame in him and perhaps he did not want his little brother to be exposed to the same guilt and shame. I feel so sad for him. He is my hero who sacrificed for his brother.

Anyway, I walked towards him and gave him a pat on the shoulder and stroke his dirty hair. It was a gesture of telling him I care and I appreciated his care for his brother.

Great series. All shots are so strong and touching. Marvelous!:thumbsup::thumbsup:

My heart felt so heavy viewing this and my heart hurts whenever am on the street and seeing such misfortune young children on the street begging and always asked myself, what if am in their shoe? Why could I lead a more better life than this? Why cant I be like other kids that can go to school? Or eat a nice meal of Mcdonalds?

I really felt for them. Well, there is some is cons but that didnt came to my mind cause doing this act on the street need alot of guts or should I say, lost of self respect.

Having no other thoughts non other than helping them, I will give them some money to buy foods of drinks and asked them to take care. And by return, they give me a smile and this warm my heart.

I know exactly how it feels to be in a less fortunate family where the supplies is not enough all the time as Ive been through that at my younger age and I am thankful to Heavenly Father for what I am today.

You work is very meaningful. Kudos!

Sincerely,
Thomas

Hi Bro,i remember this shot you shown to me before.
Now i get to see this & your entire series of great photos here,i feel so touch .
You're a good man & a great photographer , look forward to your photo showcase.

Good health & God bless.

Never did post anything since joining CS back in 08, but these pictures are too profound, so I've got to handover my first post to you TS.

I've got to add something to one of your pictures, "I feel for this pair of siblings..."
The liquid in the milk bottle isn't milk (based on its color), but something they call "AM", yes, "AM".. When rice is cooked, at boiling point, water on top is scooped out and used for feeding babies, especially common for these families who barely has enough for a meal. Haiz..
The cup noodle is probably what these two have shared, to last them a day. :(

Keep up your good work, you'll reap what you sow soon.

Very Beautiful series.the composition and the story behind the photo is overwhelming. Wish i could do my part to help these kids. They are young and innocent with nothing more than a few piece of clothing to fend for themselves. It's heart breaking to see these kids sleeping on the streets with nothing to eat while Childrens in developed countries can be choosy over the food they have. It's Sad but true. These kids seriously need some form of help. :)
