Tenganan, Pegeringsingan, Mekare-kare event - Traditional Ferris Wheel
She is tenganan's girl and when i took this picture, she's still riding a "Bali Aga Ferris Wheel" (all part is made from wood). This moment is one of the unique Tenganan's ritual of the Usaba Sambah, a day before Pandanus War.

Riding the Ferris Wheel (I've read from many article) has a philosophy value. They should realize that in this life, sometimes we feel in great moment and we feel 'high' like happy, fun, everything looks so easy and as our expectation, but sometimes we feel in hard life, sad, and everyone never wants that....

Tenganan village has a unique tradition although all of region in Bali has so many unique tradition too.

The Bali Aga have probably been around for a couple of thousand years or more and after the Hindu religion spread through Bali from Java in 1343 they sheltered themselves in their villages adhering to traditional ways.

Bali Aga is a social name for 'original balinese', people that are a unique ethnic group that still live and practice a way of life that pre-dates modern civilization.

I just know People in Tenganan at Karangasem and Trunyan that lived near Batur Lake as Original Balinese, which is rest of Balinese was come from East Java (Kingdom named Majapahit)

Klungkung, Bali - Ngaben (Cremation Ceremony)
I was visiting Klungkung with the Abangan kids. We headed down to the river where the a famous dam was situated.

We observed some interesting cremation at the river.

Ashes of the dead was thrown into the river in colourful 'Jempana'. In this colourful cart were shirts and money. These offerings were for the dead to accompany them to heaven. But children would come in swarm and hunt for these little items. They would grab whatever they could find (except the ashes).

There is no hard feeling to the family members of the dead. It is just something symbolic.

We visited Tanah Lot on Saturday. I am not so much a Landscape person, but I took a few shots just to satisfy the trip well spend.

Ubud, Bali - Sanghyang Jaran (horse) dance
This is the famous Sanghyang Jaran (horse) dance.

Marvel as the entranced dancer (sometimes little boy) ride a form of hobby horse over red hot coals, while exhibiting characteristic horse-like sounds and movements. The fire is made of coconut shells and if the sanghyang song leads him to fire, then he will dance on the fire.

This photo was taken in 2009 at Klungkung province overlooking a dam not far away.

Klungkung, Bali - Water for Life
We were observing the Ngaben (cremation) event at the Klungkung's river.
Next moment, my son Akku and the local children leaped off from the nearby dam.
I later learned from Akku that those local kids were from Kalimantan who reside in Klungkong. And they spoke in Bahasa Bugis that Akku knows. Immediately, they became friends.
The children told me that there were many photographers who have visited this place. And the children posed for them, etc. Sometimes, they were paid RP5000 - RP10,000 for being their models.
I asked if they were going to charge me for taking their pictures? They said no, because I speak Bahasa Bugis! haha.. Frankly, I could only speak a few sentences of Bugis. But I know they love Akku and treated him like their big brother.
Anyway, I treated them Bakso after having fun swimming in the river. Who care about photography...to me having fun was more important. But I promised the children that I would return to visit them in September and we will have Bakso again!
