[Mio Cade] - Bali

try to be more careful when dodging or doing shadow/highlight recovery, the temple is glowing into the background, that is not desirable.

these are models, right, so it should be better to direct them to be on the right instead, to balance out the picture.that's very nice warm light on the temple though, love it.

Yes, they were models. But not my models... They belong to Canon group....since they suddenly appeared, we stole a few shots lor..haha...BTW, this was taken last year when I still did not know about layers and many features of PS. And you are right about that glowing...if got time I will reprocess those past works.

Tenganan Pegeringsingan village, Bali - Mekare-Kare (Ritual Fight) Part 1 of 7

As an ancient village, Tenganan Pegeringsingan is identical with religious activities. Many temple festivals performed in this village that attract visitors to come. The most famous one is "Mekare-kare" or "Perang Pandan". This is a ceremonial fight or war using thorny pandanous leaves as the weapon. This festival usually takes place in relation to the celebration of "Sasih Kelima" or the fifth Balinese month.

The boys really have fun throwing mud at each other. And they would wash themselves clean in the nearby cool stream.
This is the photo that won me a prize from Steve Mccury last year. I really value it as that was the first competition I joined.

i'm not qualify to comment you pictures, but only to appreciate!! I like the best things in your pictures....

1) the light & dark, the contrast, the colour
2) the peoples, the expression on the faces, the body, there are stories behind them
3) you back grounds....those are landscape i guess, you do included peoples in the landscape, not a lot of people do that, especially in CS (no offend)

this is the best travel series in CS, at least to me.

i like this bro mio, howd you get the smoke so lively? can you share the settings?
tnks bro...

salamat bro mio,,, for sharing the settings...:thumbsup:

No problem. One thing I enjoy photography is be able to share. There is nothing to hide. Coz each has different style and captured the moment differently.

Thank you and surprised to see u in CS. I do not usually post in CS.. if not because of awareness and gathering helps.

Re: Morning prayer, Ubud Market, Bali.

A picture of a woman performing an honest prayer. So, why oh why, must you ruin the beautiful scene with your clumsy and dishonest cloning of the smoke fumes, pray tell?

Wow, you have an outstanding series here!!:bigeyes:

It has been a while since I come across quality travel postings of such a calibre here. They are so full of meaning and aesthetic beauty. You are able to create an element in photography sorely neglected by many travel photographers. That element is none other than giving your pics a meaning and story behind.

I shan't elaborate on the technical issues here as I think with a photographer of your standards, such technical issues already come with instinct and would be naturally displayed accordingly. C&Cs should more constructive and not dwelling on meagre issues which are essentially a personal preference thingie. We should all try to look beyond the pic and look "within" for the meaning behind the pic. That's what differentiates a record shot from a invaluable take.

Keep up the good work here! The local scene definitely needs more talent like you!

Thank you sir :)

WOWderful, what can i say ..... except I wish i can be as good. The Canon EOS 1000D group (now disbanded) was very fortunate to have you guiding them, i remember you were so humble going down to our noobish level answering our most silly questions.

Bro, you should join me on every Friday critique session at Photography Society Of Singapore. I learned a lot from the judges. I like Mr Hui and both Mr. Goh. They have the eyes and know how to correct you and me. Especially Mr Hui, he kept most of my photos in his collection. I feel proud and honored ;p

Very nice shot..:thumbsup::thumbsup::)

I guess both you & me are in no position to use the word "dishonest" here. It would not be fair to the thread starter as your claims are simply unjustifiable. I don't recall seeing anywhere with the TS saying the smoke was cloned. Btw, even if it is, using such a strong word here is also not advisable.

Oh..haha..leave him alone... I will concentrate in fighting the mafia in Cambodia and Indonesia. Since you are a lawyer, may be you can sue him for defamation. I provide you the RAW file, then u sue him..haha..so funny
