In other words, you have much less power than you think, especially at the wide end.

So the guide numbers are taken at the maximum zoom of the flash unit is it? But wide angle will always lose power since it covers a much wider area.

yes, the stand is useful when u are using wireless TTL.

I see some threads at the base of the stand, is that meant for mounting on a tripod for wireless flash?

Ninja, after reading your article it seems that the Sigma EF 500 Super Flash has all that 5600 HS has, or even better... with 2/3 of the price.
So, is it worth investing in this piece, since i can equally afford the 5600HS for my potential Dynax 7? Any flaw?

I"m using 500 super with my dynax 5. haven't really figured the whole stuff functions and all but so far the brainless set up and shoots have gone quite ok. wireless works fine.

you can place it on the floor, desk, table or mount it on the tripod, anyway anywhere u want.

Maybe better to wait for more people to use and see if there are any incompatibilities. Point is that for these 3rd party program flashes, they may work on one body and not on another even though the both the models are from the same generation like the Dynax 5, 7 and 9. Not sure if it would work as flawlessly on all the 3. Beware!

anyone has problem with dynax 5 built in flash popping out even with external flash mounted and turn on?

i'm using third party flash. was wondering whether those with minolta flash have the same problem with Dynax 5.

Hi Ninja,

Since you are using the Sigma 500 Super, can I check with you if this flash has a PC Sync connection. I need to connect it to my Oly C2040. As for my Minolta 5xi, just plug to the hotshoes and the "TTL" will work right?

In that case, can I use the built-in flash in my Oly C2040 to trigger Sigma 500Super(function as slave) ? The Oly C2040 has pre-flash... still can work?

As for your Minolta 5xi, yes, just plug to the hotshoe and it will just go TTL by itself.

Didn't make it clear. The Oly C2040 DC doesn't have a hotshoe. So the only way is to use a slave-trigger flash on a bracket. I wonder if Sigma 500 Super come with slave-trigger function to be triggered by the flash from the Oly built-in flash (which has a pre-flash)?

Kevin: I"m not sure but I think the sigma may be able to be triggered by oly's flash? cuz I don't think there's any way of discerning between dynax 5 flash and oly flash, so to the sigma, it should be the same?

I just chat with someone in the retail business. Was told the Sigma flash can last only one year, not very durable. Not sure what to go for now!!!
