Minolta Dimage7 Cracks?

Hi all,

Not too sure if this had been discussed before -- but anyone noticed any cracks near your Dimage 7 cameras (or any other cam using that body /mold)?

The cracks are reported in another Minolta forum (unofficial one), and I'd checked mine -- horrors! there's one on mine!


It's located ard the MF/AF button.

dunno.. apparently some theory of Minolta screwing those screws too tightly or something.. hence the intense pressure or what.

My 6 month old D7i has crack next to the screw near the 'i' in D7i.

Don't think I would have ever noticed if I hadn't seen it discussed on the 'net. Looks more like a fine scratch on my cam.

One of Minolta's screw tightening machines has the torque up just a little to high

Remains to be seen if Minolta will acknowledge a production defect or not. They already have had a D7i recall over overtightened main control knobs...

(mm, must have transfered a 'screw tightener' from knobs to bodies after that incident and now this person is overtightening body panel screws...

Yea, most of the cracks are found ard the area ;( so prolly due to too high torque

Someone apparently tried to unscrew the thingy and it's like VERY VERY VERY difficult to unscrew it ;(
