yup, looking for basic flash for travel, outdoor n indoor potrait shots, and night shots..any recommendation..? is the SB900 too overkill..?
rhino123 said:No. Get the best that is within your budget and no flash is overkill. Sometime you need the power, the recycling speed and so on and so for... and if the flash has it, it has it, if it didn't has that, it didn't has.
If I were you, I would jump in and get the SB910 if my budget allows.

barnabas2 said:i would go for the nikon sb 700 for compact size and smaller budget , sb 900 910 if u can afford as nikon have many adv like remote flash , high sync, and metering is very good
redmonsoon said:Yes 900/910 will b overkill for 9.5/10 users, most wil not use it full power anyways.
Sb700 has functions same as 900/910 except if u require external batt pack?
Compare their size and decide which? Some kiasu and then realize too big to bring out 'in case' u nd it..lol
hmmm, what I want is just basic flash..if it's small n compact, it would be great for travelling..and if that's the case, SB 700 seem to be a better choice..

To be compare as SB-700 & SB-900
Both I have it and just notice about SB-900 can be cover more far away.
If the SB-700 only cover nearest distance, but Handle quite well as lightweight design for budget used, also suit me the macro shoot as well.
If got event in bigger hall sure I will carry the SB-900 for shot up the higher ceiling and cover all the space.
If the SB-700 the result not as good for used in bigger area, in the hotel room, HDB or small place yes..
Good enough.
