Just back from my Hong Kong business trip. Have checked some shops in MongKok area. Metz58 for Olympus camera is available there. It costs roughly S$650. For your information only.

There is no more SCA module adapters for the 58 AF1 series. No more 1 flash fits all. You'll have to get either FourThirds/Oly, C, N, or Pentax. Last I checked it was about S$590-600 for the Nikon version.

If it matters, I noticed that What Digital Camera rated the 58 AF-1 at 88 %, just ahead of the FL-50 at 87 %. Their ratings take price into consideration and the 58 AF-1 was £310 vs. £280 for the FL-50.

It was testing in the March 2007 issue, but I'm not sure that you can get it online. The rating is in the back with the rest of the flash units of newer issues.

Ok updates as promised.

The shipment has not arrived yet, but this shipment is a small one - three pcs each for Oly and Pentax.

Pricing TBA, but estimated between 600 to 700.

The agent will be willing to drop me a loaner - I'll call for the usual kopi session for our evaluation when it happens.

I've been looking at the Metz Manual and it seems that it's quite a handful to adjust the settings for various modes/adjustments - although it is chock full of modes, features and functions.

I'll make a print-out and bring it down to the Kopi Sessions so that we can all explore it in full. It's probably more intutive than the manual makes it out to be...

Keeping my fingers crossed that the build quality is as good as we expect and that local warranty support will be there.

Rant:
- The benifit of having a secondary flash (the small one, facing front) is huge.
- Support TTL and FP TTL
- Beeps with it detects a correct flash exposure and when the flash is ready to fire (recharged)
- Display lights up automatically when any button is pressed
- Modeling light function
- Strobe flash function
- Wide zoom mode (no need to flip down the wide-angle diffuser)
(eg: Flash triggers at 30mm but the lens is at 50mm - for better/softer/diffused lighting
- Built in bounce card / wide-angle diffuser

The warranty is handled by the local agent - no issues there unless the flash unit has been bought overseas or PI'd (i.e. grey).

Reason for this is that Metz doesn't offer international warranty.

About the waiting part - neither can I! :bsmilie:
