I wonder if it has FP TTL mode... :dunno:

Do they have the flash in Singapore now? In this case, what about the Olympus specific function? Or is it just something Metz "hopes to achieve soon"?

K13 selling the 3200 system one. Not OLY specific version.

I know... but try calling them about the new flash and hear what they say... LOL.

yeh lah. They said this model for Olympus is not available here. Only for Nikon and Canon.

This is the official webby.
http://www.metz.de/en/photo_electronics/

It's listed as "The fully dedicated models". From my understanding, it's not like the SCA model where there is a hotshoe for any brand.

This website is more accurate than the UK one.

The UK webby is only a parallel importer, and the webby has the same structure as
their own webby. http://www.intro2020.co.uk/pages/products.htm and http://www.metzflash.co.uk/pages/metz27.htm
I doubt their source is accurate.:nono:
Sad news is Oly model is not listed on German webby.

It doesn't take rocket science to make the flash 4/3 compatible.

We only need to hope that they do!

It doesn't take rocket science but it takes money and, for a limited market, they may not care.

I was surprised a few months ago when I learnt that Metz sold adapters for Olympus equipment at all. They don't advertise anything specific.

(Pour ice... )

Let's just hope that the O/P version gets developed and released soon... I miss the fast recycling time of the Metz... and the build quality... this means I will pass on the FL-50R... or maybe not?? Wireless!! Sigh... that is so critical in my handheld fashion runway shoots... sigh... decisions... why can't I get more money!! ha ha ha...

Look like this is the way to go instead of FL50R.

Found my new purchase item for this year... ha ha ha... Metz has more reliable flash tubes as compared to the Oly. But Oly is dedicated... hmmm...

Bro, the AF-1 has a "3D Flash System", vis-a-vis a mini fill flash above the red light focus assist, which allows you to bounce with the main and direct with the mini for catchlights. (Actually I not very sure; analysed from the picture of the flash... :bsmilie:).

Someone ratify this! :p

Metz worked on this concept for decades. They first introduced this in the 80s with those huge tower looking flash units I used with my F3s. It worked very well. You get nice lighting fills. I think they have advanced this by working on some new tricks. Must check it out and see... heehee... Metz is pretty reliable...

What is the likely price of this flash? might consider getting it.. ;p

It should be in the region of S$600-650 pending GST and whatever the shop is selling...

The 58 series is a replacement of their flagship model 54 series.

Is proven, you wont regret I believe.

Selamat, are you in contact with the local Metz people?

If you are, do you think you can convince them to let us preview the flash?

TIA!

I was in a camera store yesterday and got my hands on the 58 AF-1 and the build quality isn't any better than that of the FL-50, if you were wondering. Still, the extra power and twin flash ability is appealing.

OT: Also tried an E-510 and it felt nice but definitely not a replacement for my E-1.
