C&C are welcomed! Thanks.

Nice saturated night shot you have there

your merlion is slightly blown - it would be better to expose this by half a stop to a stop less, and then lift up the shadows. ;)

Yup..this is the best i could recover..
hmm..shall try this next time..thx for the heads up:)

just curious, how to get this kind of shot?
care to share the setting and gear used?
thanks...

DSLR: Fujis5pro
Lens: sigma 10-20
Tripod used

Shot at 7.30 pm with the following settings:
aperture: f8
exposure: 13 sec
iso : 100
focal length: 10mm

Using matrix metering. I meter somewhere below the merlion feet. If you meter the buildings, the merlion will be totally blown, all white. If you meter the merlion, the buildings will be underexposed. So i meter somewhere in between, around the feet area. The orginal was still blown, but not as bad.
You will then need to recover highlights or lift the shadows accordingly.

Hope it helps.

thanks for the response
what WB did you used?

I tried a lot of night shot I wasn't able to achieve this,
I shoot raw, Im planning to change the WB but I don't know if there'll be an improvement or not.

I was using autoWB..:)...
When you cant achieve this, what do u exactly mean?...raw provides more latitude for changes..basically if you know what and how to process, go raw..but im lazy and dont shoot raw that often unless i know i need the latitude..btw the shot was jpeg

Very good shot.

 wah... very nice

I suggest you submit this photog of yours to the STB, then your photog will be on the posters everywhere in Singapore as well as in the SIA's mags.

Cheers! :)

Nice shot, I like the composition.
I've been to Merlion Park few times but didn't try this framing/composition cos eveytime I went, didn't bring along a tripod (only bought one recently :embrass:)
Thanks for the tips on metering.

actually, this was almost straight out from the camera..dont think i did much to the vibrancy and saturation in post processing. And i do share the same view! lol but decided to leave it as it is...haa..thanks!

thanks...after viewing the pic myself, i thought i could improve more on the composition...for example, i can leave more room for the foreground, to bring out the subject more.

Nice try, and keep shooting.. Overall quite nice just tt it is overexposed and over saturated :)

Agree with ya bro.

I can't help feeing that if the buildings were more vertical it'd be nicer.
