Just your personal point of view, do you think its more worth it to get the V1 or F717? As V1 is newer, any improvements over F717? I heard V1's shutter lag slightly better than F717.
If size is not a problem, I would recommend go for second hand 717 or upcoming Sony 828. Yes, in term of shutter lag it is better than 717, it focus as fast as when you half press. However, 717 itself already very fast in all digicam(except DSLR). Therefore, there is no need to worry for 717 at all, just a little slower only compare to V1. Previously I thought F2.0 and F2.8 just 0.8 difference so the brightness should be minor difference too. But then since I got the V1 I realise I was wrong, it is actually great difference! For example, I got to use slower shutter speed for indoor shoot. I cannot or should I say very difficult to take bokeh photo because in wide angle the biggest Aperture is F4.0! Maybe you will wondering since I mention 717 until so good, why give up and jump to V1? It is because size and weight is very important to me, the portability of V1 really actract me!
717 Pro:
1) Fast and bright Lens
2) powerful and accurate flash
3) Battery life is one of the best
4) good macro ability
5) Very good picture quality
717 Cons:
1) Size very bulky.
2) Heavy.
3) Slightly slower than V1.
V1 Pro:
1) Very portable due to size very small even compare to G5.
2) lighter compare to 717 and same range prosumer digicam.
3) above average picture quality.
4) Fast focusing and shutter lag.
5) 640 X480 unlimited Movie clip with sound.
V1 Cons:
1) Not top notch picture quality like 717.
2) Hard to take bokeh due to Aperture at wide angle is F4.0
3) Indoor shoot suffer from biggest aperture also, sometimes auto setting is shutter speed 1/30s, Aperture F2.8. For 1/30s, one got to hold very steady man.
4) Battery Life is so short compare to 717.
I am not expert, all above are my own finding only.
