Memories of Hokkaido

Nakajima - The four islands at the centre of Lake Toya. Really not the best weather for shots.
A panorama of 7 frames resized. The temple of Ukimido near Benten island can be seen in the original picture.

If u somehow cycled around the entire Lake which ... will take ( alot of ) effort, u will find a great number of arty statues circling around Lake Toya. There are actually some spots where they even recommend watching / shooting sunset but a quite abit of distance from Toyako Onsen area.

Here is the statue infront of Kohantei, the Jazz Musician. My gf's favourite statue.
There wasn't any sunset due to the overcasted skies. i would imagine a crimson sky with sunset and a silhouette to be really pretty.

We got onto a bus ride to the foot of Mount Showa Shinzan, *born* from a wheatfield in 1943
Still pretty hot up there so there isn't much vegetation.

Mount Yotei taken from my hotel room.
Unfortunately cloud shrouded. Its conical shape resembles Mount Fuji and is often referred as Ezo Fuji because of the resemblance.

how did you take those birds in motion? (#98-100).

With my 70-200mm. They fly quite near our hotel rooms so I did not need too much zoom. For #100 i did not even need the 200mm end.
Even though it was relatively bright, I upped the ISO to have a much faster shutter speed to freeze them in motion.

:) Thx

Unfortunately no sunset. Cause this picture was taken facing west. Light in the picture was a spot light.
And my gf was thinking maybe we shld make a trip back in winter to visit *him* :dunno:

Brudder show me ur shots too. I enjoy the way u process ur shots!
( The only reason why I hardly process anything differently is because my significant half only likes
pictures taken the original way it looks )

Back to Showa Shinzan / Uzu area
Opposite Mount Showa Shinzan ( #103 ) is a row of souvenir shops , a small town referred to as Kazan Mura. The ropeway up Mount Uzu can be located here

A shop owner carving a bear out of a block of wood.
* A little careless and got abit overexposed here.

Where is the over-exposed portion? I think your standard is too high, this picture is so rich with details, dont see any blown out areas. Very 3D.

A fellow tourist enjoying a view from the top of the cable station
I thought he resembled a little of Ioan Gruffudd from Fantastic Four.
Nice man with thick accent. He trekked the entire stretch of Uzu to see the crater formation
Wife was a nice japanese lady with fluent english
