Memories of Hokkaido

Brudder.. Me and my gf bought 6 boxes hahahaha

Haha i bought EIGHT. Freaking expensive though. Anway for shot #20 what lens were u using?

Is this what Hokkaido is like?

Somehow, when I think Hokkaido, I think of natural landscapes. Did not know it's so much of a city... May have to reconsider whether it's worthwhile for me to go there since I have zero interest in cityscapes... :dunno:

Well i'd say hokkaido has its fair share of both. Even the townside is considered relatively sub-urban and quiet as compared to Big City Tokyo.

Depends on where you want to go actually. Hokkaido is famed for its beautiful flowers, parks and hot springs.

And i thought i overbought the chocolates ... Anyway I needed space for my other goodies like Melon Pocky sticks and boxes of Royce chocolates and stuffs ( not to mention the several bags / cosmetics and clothes my gf got )

My # 20 was a stitch of 10 pictures taken with a 24mm PC lens.

More shots of people at work. This was taken at the other end of the production line before the packing machine.

The 24mm bokeh is impressive. Taken from this angle, the people look like figurines from this shot instead of real people.

For small objects the unnatural selective focusing makes things look miniaturised :bsmilie: I got the lens less than 2 weeks before I went japan, was a painful but fun experience learning to use it :bsmilie:

Giantcanopy, I noticed that your photo is sharp on the centre and blurred out at the sides like #1 and #7. Is this post processing or some kind of filter that you use? Or is it just my eyes:think:

It is the result of tilting the lens plane at an angle from the sensor / film plane while opening up at a wide aperture. The degree of blur on the sides will depend on how far it lies away from the tilted plane of focus.

The two lenses i brought along for the trip ( 85mm PC and 24mm PC ) are able to create such a type of selective focus. ( Doesn always have to be in that direction though, depends on composition ) #25 - #28 are taken tilted as well

To a certain limit the blur can be created digitally post processing on normal shots.

Here is an interesting shot that I *accidentally* took that me and my gf found amusing ( at one of the Ishiya toilets )
( I dunno who the other person was )

More *workers* in action
Pay a fee to watch ur kids ( behind a transparent glass ) make cakes and cookies - or you can join them as well. There is quite abit of reflection as can be seen here, from the glass reflection.

Paid visitors - watch from outside. Pay abit more - get inside and join in the fun.

And something not quite empty, yet.

Relooking at your photo #20, what program do you use to stitch? Do you use tripod or just a plain steady hands for the 10 shots?

P/S: Sorry I seem to ask in drips and draps, the photos are just interesting :o that I just need to relook and study them :)

At the back of my mind, I had thought that you had used a tissue paper!:bsmilie:

Hand held. Many a times setting up a tripod was not feasible. At least not on a holiday trip if u get wat I mean :bsmilie:

Hand holding not difficult under the kind of light. It was remembering the corners of each frame taken hand held that was abit tricky. Need to allow overlap for stitching

This is great.... I can almost feel the softness of the ice cream just by looking at it.

What's the MFD of your 24mm?
