Hmm, would this make a good slave flash for my C-720UZ?
I'm a newbie interested in taking good protraits and maybe macros too :D

This isn't suitable for macros. Unless maybe u hold the flash off camera and block out the camera's integrated flash with a ir-pass filter (eg negatives, search forum for details)

However, it can (if used correctly) give some nice potraits. Of course cannot compare to the $1000+ studio strobes lah. :)

Is the 2nd flash visible? Frankly I only see 1 burst of flash from my camera if its not in red-eye reduction mode. An Oly C2100.

It depends on the amount of delay, on my f707 i can see the 2 flashes.

Hi Zoomer,

Is there any warranty given for this customised Slave Flash?

If no warranty or after warranty, can we sent it back to Suntax for repair if there's a problem with it?
Can we sent it thru' their dealers?
How much do they charge (e.g. bulb blown)?

I understand that you might not get the reply so soon but do keep us posted.....

Thanks & Best Rgds,
Tony_K

I should get the answer to this next week, possibly as early as Monday. Stay Tuned. :D

Falcon: Want to join us in getting one?

Hope you didn't spend your pay this quickly. :)

Is the MO still on? I'm interested. :)

Yeah yeah! I'm still interested in the flash. Is it still ongoing?

Yes, it is.

Some may wonder about the lack of new/updates, this is as the distributor has not replied me (though he promised to give me an update last week 2 saturdays ago). I'll be calling them up tomorrow if theres still nothing.

Fantastic. Hopefully I'll be able to collect it when I'm in Singapore in December! :D

Don't worry, save up lor. :)

The Stroboframe Stroboflip looks like a nice compact bracket for the slave flash. Mounts the flash above the lens and small enough to keep it fitted with the camera all the time.

Anybody know if its being sold anywhere in .sg?

What has this got to do with this thread??

Btw, I take a look at the page yuo mentioned, and it looks gimmicky. Obviously, the human brain processes a person smiling to look better than a impresionless model.

Update (17/10/2000):

I have recieved some bad news: Suntax has not been able to fix the timing issue yet due to lack of manpower as they are out of the country to do a previous project. However, they will be back next week and hopefully, finish designing/validating our flash then.

Heh well, whether the before/after photos were gimicky was besides the point. Someone did ask about a suitable flash bracket for the slave flash earlier in this thread, so here's one that looks good.

Well, at least it isn't all bad.

Guess this is what happens if one doesn't deal with the big names. But Proably the big names will ignore this type of request. :bsmilie:

For the bracket, IMO its not worth it cos CP is selling a variety...the shipping cost alone would kill. According to sources, the cheapest one at CP is only like $10+.

Zoomer please clarify:

When you say auto-exposure, can I assume you tell the flash the ISO no, and the flash will do auto reflection measurement (bit like TTL) or do I have to set f-stop and distance as well?

Can show pic of the back of the flash or not?

In addition, you say the flash is customized, do you know in what way?

Is the circuitry modified from original?
Is it an additional wireless/optical flash trigger block/circuit?
Any idea what is the base model of Suntax that this unit is modified from?

Sorry to be asking all these questions.

The flash is being modified to accomodate digital cameras which fire 2 flashes instead of just one. Mentioned this many times already.

As for the base unit, may be the 132AF. Not too sure. There is a auto sensor in the flash, its not TTL but it works in a similar way (except its not as accurate). If there are any filters attached to the lens you'll have to compensate for it too.

Announcements

Update: Place your deposits! (31/10/2002):

The phototype is ready and functional. This means that the flash is ready for production. Hurray! I will require that all participants place a deposit so that I can pay the manufacturer, as well as to ensure no last minute changes. Since it is not exactly a big amount, I feel that it would save some hassle by asking all of you to pay me the full amount in one shot. If you have any difficulties, please do PM me. I'm sure we can work something out.

Please use internet transfer/ATM electronic transfer to transfer the amount to my account. PM me for it.

Please
1. If there is a comments/initials field, please enter your name/nick there so that I can identify who has made the transfer.
2. After that, send a PM to me with the transfer time/date/details. This is to facilitate correct matching of payees. (Double check)

On the issue of electronic transfers, I feel that this is the simplest and least troublesome way. Electronic transfers can be made via internet banking, through ATM, and also by popping into a physical bank branch.

The flash units should be ready in about a month after the order is placed.

BTW: Last Call for orders!

Hi everyone,

I'll really need everyone's cooperation to submit their deposits ASAP. This is to ensure that the order will not get delayed.

Thanks!

I am very gian to buy, but I dunno how to fix to my Canon A40...

also...how to transport them! it would be so bulky right?
