Manual Focus on EP1/EPL1

I am not sure that you will be able to focus more accurately using the EVF. If you think about it, the EVF is much smaller than the LCD screen so if you view the same scene through both of them, the image in the LCD screen is much larger and should be easier to focus.

The view on EVF VF-2 is bigger than the LCD screen view, and higher res, so I don't find any need for magnifying further 99% of the time. This is important for fast response. If I have to magnify most of the time to MF, I'd rather move on to another camera. YMMV, as this is irrelevant to those who only shoot immovable subjects, or those who don't want to look through a VF.

Thanks guys. I have a couple of OM lenses around but they are all 50 mm. I tried the f1.4 50 mm and its quite doable with the MF. In fact, I think the MF on these manual lenses are better than the MF on the micro4/3 or 4/3 lenses, except for the 12-60.

In any case, I am now looking for a MF lens that is between 15-20 mm focal length with a aperture of at least f 2. Any recommendations?

Tough one, IMHO, at least f/2, as good ones can cost. Furthermore, many MF lenses including Leica and Zeiss may have significant border distortions at this focal range. So far, from examples online and here, some Canon FD and Nikon have shown to be fine.

Long discussions on this, I guess you can try to google for any of those that work on m4/3.

Also check out the Manual Focus Lenses forum, lots of good stuff there.

Just use aperture piority mode, the camera will take care of the shutter for you. What you've been doing is more or less right, control the shutter speed in camera manually in manual mode, as to whether EV is 0, its up to you, sometimes under exposure is nicer, sometimes over is nicer, go with what is pleasing to you rather than technically correct

thnk bro... just need more practice to use the evf now... :bsmilie:
