Manfrotto 190XPROB Overpriced?

Hi all CSers,

Decided to post this thread after a night of thinking, without sleep.

Bought the Manfrotto 190XPROB tripod from Cathay Photo (Peninsula) yesterday, there was this friendly salesman whom quoted me the "cheapest" price as $210 for it.

It was bad of me not to do some research online before getting it, but upon researching, I was great depressed.

I realized that pricing for the 190XproB was anyway less than $200 from all stores, including Cathay Photo last year.... I assume if it was $195 last year, it could be cheaper this year, if not probably same?


I'm not sure if I was cheated or its just prevailing GST or the price of the product itself. The salesman even gave me his name card.


Do you guys experience this? or is it just normal? normal pricing?

Even if you have really been overcharged for $15 (which might not be the case due to price adjustment since last update in the price guide). My suggestion is not to lose sleep over $15...

Now have a good night sleep. Happy mid-autumn festival..

I experience this when I eat chicken rice, mine nearby market stall charge me Drumstick $3.50 while some others charge me $4.50. :bsmilie::bsmilie::bsmilie:

Its normal bro, U can not expect all prices among different shops to be the same
You have the wrong assumption too, in fact alot of items increase in price every passing years instead of decrease.
As long as the difference is not to big. If you wan perfection, then do your homework better next time bro

Please note that Manfrotto products got a price hike sometime after those prices were published. The price you bought the tripod at is in line with current pricing.

CP did had a huge promotion for the 190xprob during GSS (great singapore sale) and was offering the tripod at 180+ during that promotional period. It also offers a Purchase with purchase of the 496rc2 for 90+. But that is only during the promotional period which has long passed.

You did not get ripped off.

Just for a mere $15, you lost your sleep??? You need to know that some items price increase year-by-year and also of currency exchange. I know some branded goods (non-photographic) increase their price 10% yearly and yet people still paid for them.
If you think you overpaid $15 and feel bad and think you may be a victim. What happen if the shops have sales and give you good discount then??? Just forget about it and move on, there are other more important things to do, instead of just moaning over such minor thing.

hope you can sleep well now,
the $15 different is very small matter, consider the price of the tripod, just get over it.
if you unable to move on, you may need to reconsider taking up photography as a hobby, there are far more many worst cases then $15 thingy in the course of pursuing photography, you might end up in deep depression and need to seek medical assistant.

I almost fainted. Cuz i checked the price here and just went TK to ask.

I told him i was quoted $220 at OP n I found it too expensive... That chap claimed that theprice is prob before GST.

You are not cheated la. Price fructuate abit now and then. Bought already, then use it. If you feel you had paid more, then use even how to make it worthy. Manfrotto is a great brand by the way. :thumbsup:

I believe they will quote the same but will, at the same time, push another related product to you, like tripod head and/or tripod bag.
