another rumour from redissue is that our current Owen is gonna laid off longer then expected and that B. Munich actually knew that his injury was incurable but still sold him to us.....

what a crock of bull.

the medical tests would have filtered anything out.

it's not like Karl-Heinz Rummenigge pointed a gun to Ferguson's head and went "BUY HARGREAVES NOW EVEN THOUGH HE'S INJURED!"

assuming that the rumour is true, it'd be Manchester United's fault for deciding to buy a player because of the injury that he supposedly had hidden.

remember, Ruud van Nistelrooy's transfer was delayed by one season because of his knee ligament issue. so I don't think Man United would have been THAT stupid to buy Owen Hargreaves under an injury cloud.

I am in shock too about MO. Well its free transfer and his pay is incentive based so there is not much to lose.

It be interesting to see how Man Utd and Liverfool matches :bsmilie:

I'm shocked too!! I thought there was sort of an unwritten 'agreement' that due to the historical rivalry, the players (or ex-players) of these two rivals do not play for each other.... maybe I'm wrong.

Too much of such transfers happened over the decades...

Sol Campbell: Spurs to Arsenal
Figo: Barca to RM
Ash Cole: Arsenal to Chelsea

The list just goes on.. so agreement or not, it can be broken like how contracts can be broken.

Ya that move really stun everyone!

Think Man Utd is paying him only 50k pound per week which is half of what Newcastle is paying him. But he will get more if he plays n the no of goals he score each match!:bsmilie:

Shock move indeed.... As a player, I cannot remember him winning many trophies with his former clubs, and I'm sure he is disappointed. I guess a player of his calibre, he wanted very much to have at least the Premier League medal in his cupboard.

Regardless, he is a Man Utd player now and I do wish him every success at Man Utd. If he can find his scoring form, the Premier League crown will remain at Old Trafford for an unprecedented forth consecutive time!

I suppose a club of MU's resources - nothing much to lose by signing Owen. No transfer fee, performance-based contract - and this bloke has a lot to motivate him. Like Jim White said on yahoo/eurosports, first, it's a chance to rebuild his rep. Then there's the World Cup next year and he's gotta have the season of his life to be in Fabio Capello's plans. And a player wanting to have the season of his life is a player any manager could use. And where else can he do it better than to be playing alongside England's no.1 choice of striker? A calculated gamble by Fergie - and we shall see if Owen has enough knees, hamstrings and metatarsals left over to work it out....

i doubt there's such "agreement".
in the 90s, Paul Ince used to play for MU before moving to Inter Milan and then to liverpool...

On the bright side despite his injury Owen's goal scoring rate is still 1 every 2 games he played which is not bad la...

Maybe he will be our next supersub think thats why fergie sign him for!

Well, I hope that that rumour is false.... unlike the Mickey Owen rumour...... ;)

Go subcribe to RedIssue.... they are the best for transfer rumours, injury updates etc etc..... Just like a couple of months ago, when CR7 claimed he was happy and staying at OT, there was this guy that said RM had made a 80m offer..... and 2 months later.......

They are not right all the time but most of the time... and the forum makes for good and funny reading!!
