Latest friendly Derby cancelled in Beijing due to state of the pitch!

Monday's International Champions Cup match between Manchester City and Manchester United has been called off because of the state of the pitch in Beijing.

A statement on the United website confirmed what would have been the first Manchester derby outside the UK had been postponed.

"Due to recent weather events, tournament organisers and participating clubs have made the decision to cancel the International Champions Cup fixture to be played in Beijing tonight, 25 July," said the statement.

United boss Jose Mourinho criticised pitch conditions at the Bird's Nest Stadium at the weekend, saying his only objective was to get his players home healthy.

"I think Beijing is unlucky because the pitch is very bad," he said on Sunday. "The condition of my players is more important than the results in pre-season.

"My only objective is to take the players home safe and without injury. These are no conditions to play a good game of football.

"If it was a friendly, it becomes a double friendly now. No injuries, play calm, play safe, go home and keep the preparation for next week. I hope our players and City's players can go home without injury."

With the 4-1 loss to Borussia Dortmund on Friday and Monday's postponement, United's trip to China has not been ideal preparation for the upcoming Premier League campaign and Mourinho admitted on Sunday he could not wait to get back to Manchester and begin training with his full complement of players.

"Manchester City have all of their players. We have six, seven or eight, which played in the Euros," he said. "What I want is to get back to Manchester and train with the full group."

Asked why the club has come to China for pre-season, Mourinho added: "It's good for the fans and for the commercial side of things.

"We have a good group, we have a good spirit and we cope with it. Monday is the last day and then it is over."

This guy talking too much ever since his 2nd retirement. Sounding more and more like Keane.

Somehow whatever he said is true, like it or not, it is the fact. Scholesy is someone who really doesnt hide words/ opinion.
I would rather use that money to sign CR7 or Messi if possible.

Keano's comment always has sentimental value, he is not happy how his reds career ended.

Its match day 130am later ...

UNITED SQUAD TO FACE GALATASARAY

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has named a 23-man squad for Saturday’s friendly against Galatasaray in Gothenburg, where Zlatan Ibrahimovic could make his unofficial debut.

The 34-year-old striker and Swedish icon, who retired from international football following his participation at Euro 2016 earlier this summer, looks set to register his first Reds appearance in his homeland after he was pictured training with his new team-mates on Thursday.

Ibrahimovic is joined in the squad by four other players who did not travel to China for the first leg of Tour 2016, presented by Aon - Matteo Darmian, Marouane Fellaini, Morgan Schneiderlin and Anthony Martial - following their participation in the latter stages of the European Championship in France.

New signings Eric Bailly and Henrikh Mkhitaryan could make their third appearances for United since their own transfers to the club, while captain Wayne Rooney is presumably in line to feature for the first time under Mourinho after sitting out the match against Borussia Dortmund in Shanghai.

UNITED SQUAD FOR GALATASARAY FRIENDLY
De Gea, Johnstone, Romero, Valencia, Darmian, Jones, Rojo, Bailly, Blind, Shaw, Herrera, Fellaini, Mkhitaryan, Young, Schneiderlin, Carrick, Mata, Lingard, Memphis, Ibrahimovic, Rooney, Martial, Rashford.

Full backs are given more freedom to overlap and attack by Mourinho as compared to LvG

Ironically Mata playing much better than Mkhitaryan and Rashford played really well. He was more of a threat than Zlatan.

there seems to be no end to this drama. Even Pogba is trolling everyone on his social media. I fear this is not gonna happen and United could be taken for ride again just like Ramos last year and Ronaldo the year before.

It's okay.. Lets focus on buying all three jerseys - the authentic edition! A £100mill player each summer!!

Last heard of Pogba just left States. To me if he come come lor ... if not ok ... to me he is still overrated at £100mil ... and he can't even handle simple things like his transfer rumours which affected his whole Euro performance ... hahaha ...

Ronaldo already say since day one when he leave he will only come back if is SAF in-charge ... in short don't waste time ...

100mil no matter how he perform here wont justify the value. Only Messi and Ronaldo worth this value
