man u's finishing were solid last night! and they played a lot less high ball which is a good thing.
legiz, i take back my works on them scoring 3 early goals... we do have a pele and maradona in the team.... Plus rivaldo! :bsmilie: the way our long shots went into the net were pretty

what a match, worth the time!!

Fantastic performance. Have not had so much fun for a long time. I don't think any English team has ever scored so many goals in a European match!!!

probably the biggest champions league win? ;)

Created history scoring 7 goals pass the master of defence (Italy).
In 1968 run in to final we beat Irish minnows Waterford by the same scoreline on the first stage.

Watford here we come!!!

Yes it the biggest champions league win but in the old european cup format, our biggest was a 10-0 win against Anderlecht. :)

But this is awesome as its Roma! 2nd in ISA and the famed Italian defence..........blown away in 30 mins! But Roma really stuck to their guns and tried to play their attacking game. The 1st 5 mins where they settled immediately and have 2 shot just wide was really  And its a patched up United side. Not at full strength at all. In defence, midfield and attack, we have at least a 1st teamer out.

Really an awesome performance. Roma went to hell and got whacked by the  !

hehe i think even SAF also cant believe it himself , pity Roma , think they were all dumbfolded.

This is all what they could say:
Duo praise ruthless Reds

Roma coach Luciano Spalletti and club captain Francesco Totti praised United for a ruthlessness in front of goal after the Reds smashed seven goals past the beleagured Italians on Tuesday night.

Sir Alex Ferguson described it as the best European performance during his 20 years at Old Trafford, a brace each for Michael Carrick and Cristiano Ronaldo, and goals from Alan Smith, Wayne Rooney and Patrice Evra rounded off an unforgettable night.

It will be unforgettable for all the wrong reasons in Rome, however.

"This is the saddest evening of my entire career," Totti said after the game. "I have never conceded seven goals in the Champions League before.

"Unfortunately their shots were always on target and their whirlwind opening with three quick goals was a blow for us," he added. "We tried to react and do something different, but it was really very hard."

Giallorossi coach Spalletti was left equally shellshocked. "No-one imagined this performance. We suffered from a lack of experience," he opined.

"The first goal changed the face of the game. We lost our shape and played into their hands. The surprising thing was we had a similar amount of shots to United, but every one of theirs seemed to find the corner of our net.

"We have played many good matches this season, but we got it badly wrong this time. We made a lot of mistakes and got punished heavily for them."

Yeah its a very sad night for them. Kinda pity them a little and when their goal when in, at least its a consolation. Roma can be considered as a big club, not the biggest/strongest but still a big club and when u got 7 knocked pass u, it can be a little hard to take.

But its still:

((((((((((((((((   )))))))))))))))))

Meanwhile, Roy Keane's Sunderland leads the Div 1 table currently! Really amazing considering that he is in his rookie season as manager and took over the club after 4 loses and at the bottom of Div 1. What a transformation!

They'll shout insults at each other at the touchline and after that, enjoy some wine at SAF's office! :bsmilie:

Meanwhile, here are the magnificent 7: Note the soundtrack, the 2nd song! hahaha

Team wise, either will be fine for me but I think SAF did mention that the Alliance Arena is a difficult venue. So I reckon he prefers Milan.

But club wise, I think Man Utd will prefer to go to Germany given the recent troubles in Rome. Now its back to Italy again.

I just hope that there will not trouble again.

According to the English bookmakers, Man Utd are the current fav follow closely by Chelsea, then Liverpool and finally AC Milan.

In 99, its Inter Milan and then Juventus. This year, it was Roma and then AC Milan.

Looks like a repeat of the 99 season but this time round finals is in England hopefully in wembely:bsmilie:

Bayern Munich they lost a few players through injuries if not i think they can make it!

Meanwhile Bayern hint at Owen deal:

Bayern Munich president Franz Beckenbauer admits his club could be tempted to sell midfielder Owen Hargreaves when the transfer window opens.

United have been consistently linked with a move for the England international and allegedly still have an offer on the table for his services.

Beckenbauer told German television channel Premiere: "If it is right there is an offer of 25-30m euros (£17-20m), then I would seriously consider it.

"I think the board also think this way to satisfy the needs of the player."

Hargreaves has openly voiced his desire to move back to England on several occasions, with Sir Alex Ferguson making no secret of his admiration for the 26-year-old.

United face Italians again:

Having torn Roma to shreds in the quarter-finals, United will again have to negotiate Italian opposition in the Champions League semi-finals.

AC Milan notched a comfortable 2-0 win in Bayern Munich's Allianz Arena to seal a 4-2 aggregate victory over the Germans on Wednesday night.

The Italians had first half goals from two seasoned veterans to thank for their progress, as Clarence Seedorf and Pippo Inzaghi struck after 27 and 31 minutes respectively.

With Sir Alex Ferguson watching from the stands, Dutch midfielder Seedorf opened the scoring with a fine low shot from the edge of the Bayern area after being teed up by Brazilian star Kaka.

And it was Seedorf's neat backheel shortly afterwards which freed Inzaghi - a scorer against United on two occasions for Juventus - to emphatically wrap up the tie.

Bayern pressed without reward in the second half as the Italians comfortably held onto their lead and regularly threatened to score on the break.

The Rossoneri will visit Old Trafford on Tuesday 24 April, before United return for the second leg at the San Siro on Wednesday 2 May.

Chelsea will face Liverpool in the other semi-final after Rafa Benitez's side sailed past PSV Eindhoven 4-0 on aggregate, winning the second leg at Anfield 1-0 on Wednesday night.

Inzaghi again:sweat: He is the one who is capable of spoiling our show! we got to win by at least 2 goals so that we no need to struggle at San Siro!

Hornets boss unflustered:

Watford manager Aidy Boothroyd is relaxed ahead of his side's FA Cup semi-final against United, despite watching the Reds tear Roma to shreds on Wednesday night.

The Hornets boss was among the crowd as United swept into the semi finals of the Champions League at the expense of the Italians.

However, he told Sky Sports News: "I'm actually quite relaxed about it. I was privileged to be in the crowd to watch the game. I thought they were absolutely outstanding.

"They're good, without a shadow of doubt. They were excellent. It's going to be a tough call."

Despite United's stunning return to form, Boothroyd is relying on the FA Cup's famous romance to act as a leveller at Villa Park.

"The FA Cup is all about shocks," he said. "Because of the way the game is with the money these days we tend not to get that many, but who knows maybe it's our year.

"We've got to make sure we're all ten out of ten on the day. To make sure the game is a good game and it's a game that either team can win."

On-loan United goalkeeper Ben Foster is prohibited from facing his parent side, but Boothroyd is confident that second-choice goalkeeper Richard Lee will deputise ably.

"He has done it before," said Boothroyd. "He came into the first team against Manchester United and did really well.

"Part of being a number two is that you have got to be very focused and work exceptionally hard to make sure you can go straight back into it.

"I know playing reserve-team football is nowhere near it but he trains with the first team every day because he is very much a part of our plans.

"It takes a certain type of mentality to be able to come in and perform like he does. It won't be a problem for him."

Papers: On a par with Pele

Ronaldo Can Become Best Evra
Cristiano Ronaldo can go on to be as big as Maradona and Pele reckons team-mate Patrice Evra after a breathtaking night at Old Trafford. Winger Ronaldo scored twice and starred again alongside the resurgent Alan Smith in Manchester United’s 7-1 humiliation of Roma. And left-back Evra said: “There is no question at this moment, Ronaldo is the best player in the world. The great thing about him is, he doesn’t just do it in training but out on the pitch when it matters. He doesn’t do it for himself, he does it for the team and the fans. He is unbelievable. Ronaldo can do the same as Maradona, Pele and George Best. He can be like them.”
Neil Custis, The Sun

Meanwhile, Edwin van der Sar hailed United's performance against Roma as the best football he's ever seen. "The way we played in that first 19 minutes is unlike anything I have seen in my whole career," he said.

Sir Alex Ferguson was in the Munich crowd as AC Milan booked a Champions League semi-final date with United.

In other news, The Sun claims Owen Hargreaves has moved a step closer to joining United.

He has the skills but not the experience yet. So not at the moment.

Ronaldo signs new deal at Man Utd

"I am delighted. I spoke with Sir Alex Ferguson about my future and everyone knew that I wanted to stay," he said.

"I am very happy at the club and I want to win trophies and hopefully we will do that this season."
