don't ever expect Rooney to do that , you can never see him doing this.

No, Rooney doesn't have grace to dance his way thru the opposing defence. He bulldozes his way through! :bsmilie:

Dun say Rooney, Ronaldo also can't or dun do that. U will only see scholes, giggs etc do this kinda thing in the box. They dun go down that easily and have great determination.

But Rooney was quite unlucky lastnite. I tot he scored on at least 1 occasion but Friedal somehow saved.

ronaldo have the technical skills. but sometimes, he can execute all his tricks at the oponent; turn and turn, step over after step over, do this, do that... in the end still cant go pass enemy and lose possesion. i've seen that happen many times. he doesnt know when to do tricks and when not to. tats the diff between him and players like giggs and ronaldinho. they just do 1 or 2 step overs and they are pass the defender.

he needs to learn when to entertain the spectators and when not to

i am just stating the fact, Rooney is always unlucky , unlike ole , always lucky.. hehe
he got himself insulted when the referee blew the whistle he still want to shoot the USA goalkeeper , 1 to 1 so many times also cannot score . Scholes and Ronaldo again to save the day:thumbsup:

i see Ronaldo as a intelligent player , like at the second goal that he created , he is the nightmare for all defenders.his powerful freekick does not allow GK to catch the ball properly , he is faster than Ronaldinho , just that Ronaldinho more accurate than him. whereas for Rooney? haha , he got so many good crosses to him , he cant even convert it.

once or twice is luck. 10+ years of consistant, simple point-blank goals, i consider that good positioning skills and great alertness with good finishing...

Vidic injury blow confrimed:

Nemanja Vidic is likely to miss at least a month of action after suffering a serious shoulder injury.

The Serbian defender landed awkwardly after bravely attacking a Ryan Giggs corner in trademark fashion against Blackburn.

Sir Alex Ferguson confirmed after the game that the 25-year-old will miss a sizeable portion of the rest of the season.

"We think it's a four or five week job," the Gaffer told MUTV. "We'll do our best to get him back as soon as we can.

"It's a shoulder injury. We don't know the full extent now, we'll maybe know more tomorrow morning."

John O'Shea replaced Vidic against Blackburn, with Wes Brown partnering Rio Ferdinand superbly in the centre of defence.

Now Vidic's injury, coupled with the long-term absence of Mikael Silvestre, will see Academy captain Craig Cathcart promoted to the first team squad.

"I said two weeks ago the most important part of the club is the bench and that's proven itself now," said Sir Alex.

"Now I need to think about alternatives for that position. I think I'll bring Craig Cathcart into the squad now. He's playing in the youth team on Monday but he'll travel with us to Rome.

There are other alternatives who can play in that position too. But the resolve of the team tells me they can handle it."

Lets see how Craig cope on the big stage!

every top striker has his off day, Rooney included....
he'll break his scoring duck soon, and SAF has his way to see to that...
no pressure so long as the team is winning games...

We want our trophy back! 5 more wins!

cheers

Sound bad for ManU now. Seem like every game they played, they have a first team player injured.
Gary against Bolton and now Vidic against Blackburn. Hopefully there will be no more injuries.

Really worrying leh. 3 defenders out and Roma is this Thurs away. Somemore i read that Roma dun play with an out and out striker. Totti drops deep with support from 3 attacking midfielders.

Roma is indeed a strrong team and chances of us coming out victory is rather bleak with so many good players out of play. :( Let's hope for the best.

tats right im afraid :(
roma is strong, and if im not wrong, totti is top scorer currently. hes been having an exceptional season and this can only be a bad thing for us :(
without vidic partnering ferdinand, i sure hope our defence can stop totti!
either that or play like brazil style, SCORE MORE THAN WE CONCEDE!

dun really familiar with Roma 's style of playing , nt quite worry because man utd is on fire now:devil:   saw their outstanding performance against Lyon .. a fast speed attacking team

its time u start watching seria A and la liga then. once u've watched their teams play, u will know how much english strikers sucks! and how ineffective the way english attacks are!

EPL and champions league are totally different thing.
man u might be playing well in EPL. but once it comes to europe, playing against teams that are fighting to be king of europe, all teams get a hard time.

Totti: Remember my name...

Roma striker Francesco Totti has issued a warning to United ahead of Wednesday night's crunch Champions League quarter final first leg.

The 30-year-old marksman, who currently leads the scoring charts in Serie A, is miffed Sir Alex failed to name him as a threat after the quarter final draw was made in early March. Instead, the Reds' boss singled out Roma midfielders Daniele De Rossi and Alessandro Mancini.

"Ferguson, you will learn who Totti is," the striker promised during an interview with Sky Sports. "He will see personally. I hope to make him remember my name."

And even though he expects to be man-marked when the teams meet in Rome on Wednesday, Totti says it's a situation he's grown accustomed to.

"So they are going to put me in a cage? Opponents always make a cage for me. When I grow up I won't be a footballer but I will work at the zoo with all the cages people have made for me."

The centre-forward has scored 18 times in the league this season. He's also netted four times in this season's Champions League campaign, including one against Lyon in the last round.

"We are coming into the match in the right condition at the best possible moment," Totti said. "To have got to this point after so many years is a great achievement, but we don't want to stop here. There are even bigger satisfactions further on in the competition."

A loyal servant, Totti has been at Roma since 1989 when he joined the junior team. He made his first-team debut in 1993, aged 16.

And while Italian strikers like Fabrizio Ravanelli and Gianfranco Zola have come and conquered the Premiership, it's not a challenge Totti finds appealing.

"I've never liked English football, even if there are some great players there," he said.

"I don't like England either – the weather is gloomy."

Roma duo warn Ronaldo:

Roma's Christian Panucci and Mancini have issued thinly-veiled warnings to United winger Cristiano Ronaldo ahead of Wednesday night's Champions League clash.

The pair both praised the Portuguese star, but predicted that he may struggle to have his usual impact in the cauldron of Roma's Stadio Olimpico.

"Ronaldo’s class is unquestionable," said former Chelsea defender Panucci. "But I believe he abuses his dribbling talents and always exaggerates his falls.

"A lot will depend on the referee but in Roma Ronaldo will not be daring enough to do it because he knows we will not fall for his tricks."

Brazilian attacker Mancini also voiced his admiration for Ronaldo's array of skills, but warned that he will face a rough ride in Rome.

He said: "Ronaldo is almost perfect in the art of dribbling but the Italian defenders are harder than anywhere else and he will be taking a big risk if he tries any exhibition stuff.

"I’ve watched Premier League matches and he is protected by referees. I don’t think he will be on Wednesday."
