Yes, the mag is a franchise business... and it's good if u r buying it for the UK contents. The local (M'sian) contents (thank goodness it's only a few pgs) is really not up to standard and the local editor can't even write proper English.

Care to elaborate further on your insult? I can't seem to find "unproper" English from the "sub-standard" local (M'sian) contents.

Give the local publication a chance to improve....overhead is high here, but I feel John and company are trying...without support, the quality will go down further, its a vicious cycle, perhaps feedback and suggestions might help them deliver better stuff.

Initially was quite happy that PhotoVideoI gets better and decided to include a lot of local contents updates. I know they need money to get in circulation, thus supported with subscription.

However, as the months goes, it is starting to turn into an advertisment tabloid. The reviews of new gadgets are so obviously 'sponsor oriented'. Who gives money for advert, then write good good for the things. You don't really get critical comments on the downs, but exagerrated praises.

Also, John is quite pro Canon, although using D100 himself. (Tot he got himself D200 already?)
This spells bad for a magazine to start taking camps. Will aggravate either camps.

If you ask me, will stop subscription once mine ends. Unless they start to really put some work into the articles. Because it starts to diminish my mind when I read it.

Weekh, you are right that it is really getting superficial and the pool of contributors are getting stale.

John or Joe or whoever elses in the team sees this, please buck up! :(

Have to agree. Think they never proof-read it.

its ok ba, since we buy for the uk content anyway. ;)

Not sure if Digital Camera can sustain or refresh it self in the long run, got hold of Volume 1 issue 1 (June/July 2006)....articles seemed dated, featuring D50 and Digital Rebel aka 350D, nothing much about the latest DSLR.....in any case, I find Photovideoi do strive to cover Singapore Photographic scene quite widely....and I guess it takes the community to help make it more vibrant by maybe be more pro active in coming forth to contribute views and suggestions or even provide the contents directly or indirectly. I do see John making his rounds even at low key exhibitions, and using both Canon and Nikon and whatever brand in print and in person....anyway, apparently they did get a regional award recently for their magazine designs....I am just offering my support and in no way associated with the mag BTW...but guess they do have to work harder to win more readers.

Ya. Agree.

However, supporters supports will wane if they don't produce better results after some time.

I thought for a moment Malaysia came out with its own brand of digital camera retailing for RM8... :P

Hope that no one is confused between Digital Camera Magazine and Digtial Camera & Photography. One is franchised from the UK, while the other is from the USA.

The contents of the US mag seems to be more outdated and less interesting, IMHO.

Just got my copy in KL - came with a free pack of 25x4R Sepom double sided photo paper which is RM9.90 RRP (of course it is worth less than that) but good value. Reviews are done by Arthur Bleich (US) - they didn't even edit the camera name - Rebel XT instead of 350D.

Can't go wrong for RM8.

If someone can bulk order from JV 50 copies a month and sell for S$5 subscription I think it will sell.

You have mistaken its competitor, Digital Camera & Photography for Digital Camera Magazine. Clearly, someone had earlier posted the June's DCM cover and yet you brought the wrong one.

i went over to JB yesterday and couldn't find Digital Camera Magazine.

Only seen Digital Camera & Photography, yet the page footer of each pages wrote "Digital Camera Magazine".

It's a bit too late to look for the June issue as most places have sold out, well most places in Klang Valley. I think July issue will be out anytime this week, (I hope) ;p

Hi...

Tried to find the mentioned magazines in JB but in vain.
Any kind souls here can tell me where to get it in JB ?

Thanks in advance.
