So its official is it? He said HUM and not HIAM on TV.
In some forums they say he said HIAM. CNA wrote he said HIAM.
I am waiting for this weekend rebroadcast of PM speech on TV , hope they don't censore off this MEE SIAM part.

Heard this is one of the most funny podcast by Mr Brown, is there any good ones also?

go to www.mrbrownshow.com - go to the archives - i think it's the month of june or july - there's one on interviewing native speakers to teach English - DAMN FUNNY MAN - CHIO KAO PENG!! - then another about the 4 million smile to welcome IMF delegates - i think that's in July (check when the PM launched the campaign) - also damn funny!!

My hubby likes the taxi driver kena 'electric-collared' one - i think that's in Aug - hubby's ang moh so he doesn't quite understand the Singlish and when I translate for him - it's not so funny leh - sort of lost the flavour coz BOH HUM!! Hahaha!!:bsmilie:

Eh - but what exactly did PM say - mee siam mai hiam or mai hum??? mispronunciation??

MR BROWN IS THE COOLEST - SO IS MR MIYAGI!!
p.s. - i LOVE to wear the colour brown ...

u should buy his T-shirt
is out !!

Yep, he definitely said 'HUM' cause I remember thinking "it should have been 'hiam' and not 'hum'" the minute he said it. MICA doing some damage control la :bsmilie:

maybe there might be a press conference going on... and it will address this issue...

it might have a line like this...

I think there is a problem with the mic that day, and my throat is sore, sorry for the mispronounciation, and on top of everything, shouldn't we not speak dialect on TV? so please... move on... Mai HIAM (this hiam not the same as that hiam & hum...)

Hiam1 (Chilli)
Hiam2 (pick on it)
Hiam3 (dunno if there is any word)
Hiam4 (as above)

anyway.. i dun get the link between "bak chor mee" and "I'll say mee siam mai hum...." :dunno: what was he trying to say anyway.

i guess the top level dun even understand the dialect part... hehe... all english powderful...

iirc, he say bah chor mee, mee pok mai hiam... then he should say, i'll have spaggetti, that'll have more linkage as in telling Mr Brown that, hey u speak hokkien, i speak english, we are world apart... ya know... different class... if u wanna go same level with Mr Brown, and get the wrong pronounciation... i guess the joke get backfired...

who ever wrote the script, think kena own3d big time... he might be at Changi enjoying his broadbandless life...
