so much lighter and smaller.. I compared both before I decided on 401FS :bsmilie: ...

When in doubt, just buy all! :bsmilie:
I have the 401 for travelling, 801 for heavy duty 8-cell charging and C9000 for super fast charging on the go (For one of those last minute assignments! )! :bsmilie:

Bo pian leh. Got the 401 bec of travel, then the 801 bec of the 8-cell capability, then the C9000 came out and then I suddenly had the use for a quick charge cability. That's why I bought one after another! :bsmilie:

I think I also have the 204 too! Lying somewhere in my dry cabinet!

You can set the charge and discharge rates. So how fast depends on the set rate. But it would not be too good for the batteries.

can use other brand batteries on the 8 cell charger ?

Hi all,

One question. I own a battery charger without the cell adapter (battery compartment) as I was using it to charge my radio control car cell pack.

Do you all know where can i get the AA battery cell compartment for me to connect to the charger for charging and conditioning? I have multiple connectors that came along with my charger so I guess it can fit any battery compartment.

Hope I am explaining clearly. Thanks in advance.

I am waiting for a National Day Promotion to get a 2nd charger... 801 :bsmilie:

It's still at $129 without the batteries bundle.
Why don't you give them a ring to check to see if they are planning a promotion? ;)

oh ya ... sorry for the sudden intrusion ... if use other brand battery, how's the performance like ? do they fully charge the batteries ? i am asking because i had bad experience with a so called univeral charger... i popped in my sony batteries in and even after 8 hours, they are only 3/4 charged ...

The problem with most rechargeable batteries is that they don't hold their charge well. That is why I now use Sanyo Eneloop. While its AA sized battery is rated at only 2000 mAH, its true capacity is actually very close to 2000 mAH as stated by Sanyo. As for the Powerex, it may be rated at 2700 mAH but its true capacity is considerably less. This was the result of a study on batteries that I stumbled across in the internet.

Besides holding its charge better, the Eneloop also last longer because you don't have to charge it until the charge is depleted and the lesser the number of times you charge, the longer it last. Furthermore, as it is only charged when the charge is depleted, it also suffers less from memory effect.

Would I go back to 2700 mAH batteries again? Perhaps yes if I am an extremely heavy user. I still use the Powerex 2700 batteries I have but any new batteries that I will buy will be Eneloop or equivalent for sure.

Please note that Ni-MH cells do not exhibit memory effect like their Ni-Cd counterparts. I currently use the C9000 on a few sets of Sanyo 2700, 2500, Sony 2500, 2300, 2100, 1600, and Sanyo Eneloop 2000 AA and 2 sets of Eneloop 1000 AAA. All working fine no problem. Setting of the C9000 should be at most 20% of the battery cap, i.e. 2500mAh charged at 500mAh. Do not over cycle the batteries as it will wear them out prematurely. My 2 sets Powerex 2500 have all been destroyed by the C801D overheating them. Using the C801D, you MUST apply the soft charging function.

If you are heavy user, go for C801D. C9000 is fun to use, but after some times...you will not use those fancy features anymore but just charging. :P

Hi,

For those using the C9000, does the charger emits a high pitched sound when charging as reported by some other forum users? I am thinking of getting it and using it in my room, reason is that I got a number old 2100 batteries that my GP charger couldn't charge, saying it's faulty. I think placing it under the table at night should deal with the bright backlit LEDs.

Cheers!
