It's better than handheld. Tripod still the best for 1:1. Otherwise use flash. ;p

commpletely agree, with VR at 1:1, there is a 50% chance I can get sharp image with hand held :P, without VR even at 1:3 it is impossible to get sharp image for me at 1/30... I guess I have very shaky hand. cheers.

VR have help me me tremendously with handheld macro.....;)

ah is see.

so the VR does help in a 1:1 situation as opposed to one w/o VR.

thanks

Hi, I just bought a Canon EF 100mm f2/8 Macro lens last month and I love the lens for my EOS 400D. The price was S$750 without GST.

This lens is good for shooting portrait as well. But, I haven shoot
any macro until I get a tripod. And, if you are interested, you may see the portrait photo taken by this lens @ http://www.flickr.com/photos/15027960@N00/tags/canonef100mmf28macrousm/

Shoot them at Singapore Bird Park, Zoo and Orchard.

Can I mount it on Nikon DSLRs?

Canon lenses cannot be mounted on Nikon but there are adapters to mount Nikon lenses on Canon EOS bodies... so buy more Nikkor lenses!
