can advise on whether a 50mm Marco or 100mm Marco lens to buy for sony dslr and what is the diff between the 2.

Its Macro and not Marco...

The differences==>price, subject to lens distance. Maybe magnification ratio. Maybe maximum aperture. Depth of Field of lens different. Sure is Field of View when used as normal lens.
