M9 got no hole for flash sync cable?

Eh guys pls help.

I just realise M9 got no hole for flash sync cable. That means the only way to connect a flash sync cable is the viewfinder hot shoe. Must buy cable with 6 pin.

But this give me a problem: if I need to use 21mm viewfinder with 21mm lens, then how to use flash? The viewfinder will occupy the hotshoe needed for the flash sync cable.

Any way to solve this problem hah?

Thanks much in advance

Imagine the 21mm framelines. Nikon TTL flash sync cable (hot shoe).

Good luck.

xiao liao lah. my mind can only see 50mm lei. Even 35mm I cannot imagine, how to think of 21mm.

coz my dec wedding shoot need to go table to table. I need the 21mm and flash together. jia lat.

I thinking hor...maybe can stick the 21mm viewfinder using a big piece of blu tac (or gaffer tape) onto the empty space above the viewfinder (where the leica script usually is), that leave the hot shoe free for the flash TTL sync cable. U think liddat can do anot hah

Just use the M9 VF and ignore the framelines. Imagine it to give you 95% coverage...like those APS-C DSLR :bsmilie:

interestingly, why would you bother to use a m9 to shoot table shots at a wedding? wouldn't a cheap dslr at a 10th the price suffice?

Coz i do not own a dslr. I only got ricoh gxr and leica

Haiz maybe i shld borrow. Btw thannks to all who have given me suggestions

Hi

I used to use something like this back then, not sure if it works for the M9

http://www.amazon.com/Seagull-SC-2-Flash-Adapter-Socket/dp/B00281Y6FO

You can then mount the ext VF on top of it and use a flash bracket for your flash

This one solves your problem! It will only affect the accuracy for vertical framing, the sides should still be the same. Good thing about digital is that you can preview and make adjustments.

Quick! Get one and practise with it first!

Yes, affects only vertical framing. If for wedding table shots, this should not be too much of a problem.

i'd use the ricoh gxr for table shots. seriously.

But the GXR is 50mm (A12 module). That won't work. I dont have anything wider.

Ill look at Michael Bass also. Thanks for suggestions. I must say some of Michael Bass hot shoe adapters look very very interestting...i wonder can work on M9 anot

#1, using a Laica to take table shots is way way overkill,
#2, using 21mm focal length to take table shots also not necessary and advisable, I won't want to use anything wider than 28mm, if can do at 35mm focal length better still, most decent ballrooms will have ample room for you to shoot at a comfort distance, unless the dinner is held at restaurants which the tables so packed that the guests can't even stand up to arrange for table shots.

Found another possible solution to my problem

With this, I can (i) hold my flash with my hand; and (ii) put an external viewfinder above the hot shoe.

NISSIN SC-01 CABLE. Confirmed work with Leica M9.

On a separate note, I visited the wedding ballroom last night. It seems like it will be a bit crowded that night. I will be bringing 35mm, 50mm and 21mm. Need a 21mm just in case there is not enough room to manuver.

Bro, I find that at a wedding, it is better to have 2 bodies with 2 different lens (wide and mid/tele). Faster, less fumbling, and both act as back up bodies.

Especially if you're official photog. What if the M9 fail on you? Better to borrow another body or better still buy one more! :)
