Hi, I searched at ebay and someone in HK is selling this M42 to Minolta adapter for less than US$10.. are they different quality? Want to do a MO?

Actually it is at the same price ..... Look at the transport charges which is astromonical ..... another method some Ebayer use. (Notice they say there will be minimum or absolutely no discount when there is a combined shipping) (But then, it is still cheaper then any shop in Singapore )

I would not mind doing an MO for this item though ...... after I sought out some information with these people (For example, the ability to focus to infinity, the stop down capability ... bla bla bla ....).

For M42 lenses? It is normally classified under Pentax .....

Zeiss' Contax were the first to use the M42 mount. Pentax made the M42 mount popular. The mount loss popularity in the 70s when bayonet mounts became popular.

It is more accurately known as the M42 × 1 mm standard, which means that it is a metric screw thread of 42 mm diameter and 1 mm thread pitch.

Hi, A stupid question.. are all lens with indication that support M42 mounting can work on the KM5D if I purchase the M42 to Minolta mount adapter?

In theory all M42 lens should work on KM5D with a M42 to Minolta mount adapter

Just call them yesterday(Fotografix) . They quoted me aa Minolta AF to M42 adaptor at SGD75. K13 marketing at Penisula quoted me at SGD65.

Word of caution ......

Most, if not all, adapter does not have Auto stopping down capability, thus if you want to use lenses that are PURE Auto, without manual over ride, the lens will be working at full aperture only. Of course there ways to overcome this.

I don't know about the Tele-Takumar .... but the 400 F5.6 Sigma (72) is crap .... the 400 F5.6 Sigma Macro (77) is very good though ......
