GXR interface is much better than NEX. The LCD also higher reso. But GXR LCD cannot be tilted

the attachment viewfinder can be tilted if that's an issue? i.e. framing and shooting from the chest oh yes, nex got no viewfinder... booooo

I sold my ep2 kit and bought into a GXR A12 50mm + evf two weeks back in anticipation of ... :hearts:

Information are sketchy at the moment, but I really doubt Ricoh, a brand that makes camera for photographers in mind will not include a basic function like a zoom magnification.

However, that being said, imo, for ricoh to really stand out with their M-Modules, they need a manual focus function that's more than just "zoom magnification". The reason for many to use rangefinders are for their quick manual focusing and most importantly, being in control. If not, I do not see what they can compete with the NEX, which are also 1.5x crop.

Yes, with the new firmware the focus assist can even move to where ever your focusing point is, before the firmware update it stays in the middle.

I've use GXR since it was launched and I can say for sure that this camera is a totally different camera than since day 1.

I'd wait for both to decide. What's going for the GXR will be the Jpeg processing, while the NEX has better ISO qualities.

It is really hard to say at this point in time since with each lens module, they have the option to change the sensor and processor.

Not even sure the camera module can handle more megapixels as it is. Remains a question of system longevity too.

The lens module holds the processor and sensor. It handles all the processing. The camera modules is nothing more than a docking station with a LCD, card reader, display and user interface.

Just used the GXR over the weekend in Koh Samui!!! Agreed, it's a great camera in the likes of my GRD3. So easy to use!!! The EVF is really nice!!

What would make the GXR M mount module stand out relative to the NEX 7 is if they incorporate profiles into the camera module that would correct for distortions that occur when say mounting an ultra wide on the module.

I wonder if they would go that far though.

Just spoken to a salesman in Changi duty-free camera shop. According to him, the marketing manager of local Ricoh hinted that the initial offer price would be around S$1200, launching around Sept-Oct this year

I like this!!! Btw, the A12 50mm f2.5 is good for macro when required!
