M-Mount lenses on Lumix G1

Looking for a portrait lens to go with the e-p1. Any recommendation for a tiny and fast rangefinder lens?

I've considered the CV 40 f1.4 but it seems to be a little short.

Zuiko OM50mmf1.2. One of the smallest 50mm fast lens.;)
Sorry with the adapter it's not so small anymore:embrass:
How about a Canon 50mmf1.4 LTM?

Yup, the "OM to 4/3" + "4/3 to M4/3" to mount the Zuiko lenses will make the combi a little thicker than desired.

Hi all,

I just got a G1 bout 2 weeks ago and am still learning how to use it before my kid's birth within next week :)

I am still quite new to SLRs so pardon me if I ask some dumb questions :)

I'll start with a lens mount question. I would like to attach either a Canon or Nikon 50mm f1.8 lens to my G1, can anyone advise me on which M4/3 mount adapter to get for that?
Won't mind China brand or anything. If I can get a Nikon mount would be best as I already can get my hands on a Nikon 50mm. but if there is anyone here who can point me to an offer for both mount and lens, I'll be very happy :)

Hope some one has a spare set or knows someone who does.

THanks.

Chiif has got quite a selection of m43 adaptors.

m43 adaptors
Thanks Bernard. Will reach out to him via email.

For the time being, as I am still just a beginner, I would just want a simple setup (read: affordable/economical) to attach a prime lens to my G1.

Any recommendation of the best combination? I read alot of examples here but am not too sure on which mount + which lens would be ideal with the right price of course.

Wah!!! Rare lens up for grab!!! Where to join the waiting list!? On the G1 it's actually a 100mm f/1.5 leh... Hmmm...

Chiif, so if got CX to G adaptor, this one can become 200mm f/1.5!!!? That's faster than the previous Canon EF 200mm f/1.8!!

Cheers,

Hi can someone tell me what lens is these, i have been searching all day for these lnes 100mm F1.5 but cant find any result. Is these a FD or LTM or .... ??

No not dumb... good question!

Have to rely on your eye to focus. No confirmation. But can zoom in to the spot u want to focus to get accurate focusing... a pretty useful feature.

Personally, I find the best lens to use with the G1 is the 50mm focal length. Which is 100mm on 35mm full frame format, good for portraiture & still life. Will take some pics with the 50mm/f1.5 and post tomorrow... :)

I tried mine with an M mount lens and the zoom in focus doesn't seems to activate.
Is it because of the adapter or what?

by the way, Chiif, what's the best price for the 35mm f1.4 now?
I might be coming down to Singapore and might wanna get it for my G1.
What do u recommend, 35mm f1.4 or 50mm f1.1?

I have tried some of my Leica lenses on my G1, results are not good.

Latecomer to this thread...
playing with the G1 and i think its good fun with the adaptors to so many other lens makes.

What type of budget you looking at? I have used a Contax/Yashica mount Carl Zeiss 50mm f1.7 on my G1, with good results. If you can afford the pany pancake 20f1.7, it has the additional benefit of AF. Here a pic taken with the lens.

Question: Are there any good telephoto primes out there that work well with the m4/3 cameras? Apparently Voigtlander used to have some 90mm but sadly out of production now... :(

Not m mount but carl zeiss 85f1.4 should be good, i am using an old nikon 105f2.5 on the G1 with very good results.

Do you have any samples of the Carl Zeiss 85/f1.4? Found some reasonably priced ones on ebay at 550-650 USD excluding shipping.

Search for bro with nick clubgrit in 4/3 section, he has many samples using EP-2 and EPL-1

Out of curiosity guys, since you are composing through the lens, what happens if you increase the aperture to f 16/22- can you still view the whole image?
