M-Mount lenses on Lumix G1

G1 with 35mmbiogon... nice and compact, but have to get use to the 2x crop...

i'm a late comer to the G1, so still experimenting with various combos...

G1 with 40nokton converted to b&w with silver efex pro @ tri-x

looks like i'm too later in this game... no one interested in adding to this thread...

G1 with 50planar converted to b&w with silver efex pro @ delta400

Beautiful shot!

The G1 is a very good camera... just that these days I do not have time to go around shooting anymore... Now the kit lens is mounted on it most of the time for me to "machine gun" my boys running around... :bsmilie:

Small & light.. a perfect digital PnS camera that gives decent image quality :bsmilie:

thanks. the G1 is indeed very light and convenient, but i'm waiting for more m43 lenses. in the meantime, it's usually got the 35biogon / 50planar attached it.

btw, here's the colour version of the cat... i haven't installed the software yet, so i can't read the raw format, this was the jpeg.

this is really interesting!!! but the inability to meter and record EXIF info is a bit turn off for me..

I think you got the facts wrong...

It meters very well & record ISO & shutter speed info. The only thing it doesn't record is lens info.

oops.. thanks for clarifying..

chiif, just to check with you, m43 is universal right? So that Voigtlander M-to-m43 adapter should work on any m43 body irregardless of brand (eg, the Olympus E-P1)?

more pics from summilux 50/1.4 ASPH
(all at F1.4) :)

Yes. You can use the M4/3 adapter on E-P1. Both the China made ones & the Japan made Voigtlander ones can be used. And to dispel any myths, the China made ones can focus to infinity. Besides the workmanship, it's basically serves the same function at half the price. :)

RUN... RUN AS FAST AS YOU CAN! ....

YOU CAN'T CATCH ME... FOR I'M THE GINGERBREAD MAN! :bsmilie:

Nice shot as usual, Andree... :)

The M4/3 format is probably the most versatile lens mount in the market today... if you can find a good machinist, you can almost make any lens mount on this camera.

This is a picture taken with my father's 55mm Nikon Micro lens that can't even mount on the modern Nikon DSLR body because it's not a AiS lens. Will damage the DSLR if mounted.

Mount on the G1, it gets a new lease of life... :bsmilie:

BTW... this is a Bessa I, the grand daddy of Bessa III. :bsmilie:

actually a 15min modification without any additional parts will make it Ai

Hi Chiif, Need your advice. Just bought EP-1 (same sensor as G1). I'm really interested in the Voigtlander 15mm F4.3 II Asph to fit EP-1 (or G1). Heard that corners (on G1) are no good eventhough 4/3 sensors taking about 50% of the the image circle. Is this true?

Size comparison with the M8.2:

Looking for a portrait lens to go with the e-p1. Any recommendation for a tiny and fast rangefinder lens?

I've considered the CV 40 f1.4 but it seems to be a little short.

How about CV 50mm f/1.5 ?

Wee... for that price, I think only 40/f1.4 fits the bill. The Canadian version of 35 summilux I think is about the same size, but the price is at least 4 times. A condition 7 50 lux is going to cost you at least 4 times the price also.

For 50mm, 50/f1.5 is fine if you strip off the hood. Not small, but small compared to any SLR lenses.

Personally, 40mm works well for me, easy to focus and not too cramp. It becomes 80mm, which i think is about the optimal for portraiture. Minimum focusing is 70cm, which is about right distance for portraiture to cover some out of focus...

Some example caught at minimum focusing distance...
