M-Mount lenses on Lumix G1

Voigtlander Heliar 75mm/f2.5. Becomes effective 150mm on 135 format. Closest focusing distance is 1m. Pretty good for birdy, still & street if you are the shy type. :)

Wow Chi Fei, You are really enjoying the G1 too! I love the compact size!!!! I think I like it more than the M8!

 what do u mean "the feel of the lenses is not there." ?

i duno. most of the lenses u shot with, i had used them before on film.
the feel is different, could be maybe it's on film...
am not sure how to describe it, but the feel of it is just like a snapshot.
it's missing that something...

gd for leica.. this year they can finally make money through lens. :)

wat will happen to G1 when olympus's camera is out in march???

They will release a newer model with Video? :bsmilie:

i think i'll jump at the olympus if it is as small as the concept camera that they showcase and if the image quality is on par with G1.

Hmm... usually LCD on cameras have a tough time getting the colour of this flower correct. Any strange colours when you took this photo? IF you remembered of course.

I think the G1's LCD, EVF and output colours are very accurate. I was bokeh testing my FD 85mm 1.2L on the same flower and i can see the warmer tones of my canons versus the cooler tones of the voigts on the LCD. Its a joy to review the images on the LCD and EVF.

So far, I find the CVs deliver the best colour balance versus the G1's in-built colour profile, more so than the kit lens. Zeiss only slightly better on skin tones.

G1's colour balance reminds me of Fuji Reala's film colours.

warm afternoon shot.

To me, the color of panasonic is not real. The color look very different from film. Of course, i do agree that the len is good.

for those that have use Panasonic and Olympus cameras, I believe they know which one will look better :)

feels funny when I frame, manual focus and shoot via G1 LCD.
I'm sure Oly can deliver a better camera but don't know if its EVF-less version will deliver a better shooting experience. anyway, wait and see.

Well, I don't think anything digital will replace film and I'm not show casing that it can or can't be. What excites me is that this sub 1K camera (with lens) can mount the M mount lenses and image quality is not too bad and far off from the 4K+ counterpart (without any kit lens ;p).

Before September 2008, M users have only the M8 & RD-1 digital bodies to use their M lenses on.... Not that with digital spells the end of film, it just give the consumer a wider choice to use their lenses on.

The camera LCD is really nice to preview pictures. I won't say and can't say that colour is accurate, but it sure beats my canon D60 small little 1.8" LCD. I feel the EVF is necessary on the M4/3 bodies, as it is almost impossible (I reiterate that... ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE) to focus without a EVF. Focusing on the LCD screen causes neck ache.

I really couldn't wait for the oly M4/3 to come out and went ahead to get the G1. The swivel LCD screen is pretty useful. And usually, I will flip it back and use the EVF most of the time. Though I still prefer the old school RF body, slimmer, more metal... what I really like about this little G1 is that it fits into my little A&A bag with a 35/f1.4 or 40/f1.4 mounted on and can hold another 2 additional lenses. Or I can mount the 40/f1.4 on G1, bring along my R4A + 35/f1.4 & another 12mm/f5.6 or 15/f4.5 lens... And I am complete for a trip. With that combi, I have 80mm focal length, 35mm on film & a ultra-wide 12mm! What more can I ask for? :bsmilie:

Imagine the size of the D700 setup + any f1.4 lens or their 17~35/f2.8... :bsmilie:

Nice shot!

Hi guys care to share how much the G1 was bought for and when will the Olympus one be out?

got a few M lenses lying around no body to use. :)

Me and my friends are actually quite keen in this G1 thing. The pics just lacks the 3D'ness compare to film , M8 or M8.2 but the price damn attractive..

Anyone has mount a cine lens onto the camera??? forget abt f1.4 lens...

Cine lens are f0.95 !!! Not only CV , leica or zeiss makes good lens.. Olympus version will come with their pan cake lens thats as good or even better.

Olympus version rumored to be out in March...
