the cam might be set to high-speed focusing, it sort of "freeze" the screen during focusing, should be gone when you use other focusing method

Thank you for your enlightenment.

Just got mine a few days ago, :)
Does anyone know where screen protectors might be available?

For good one, get Martin Field from DOML.

Is it screen protector available for the LX3 yet? I can't bear to use it now cos I'm afraid of scratching it!

someone did mention that the 3rd party batt did not fit the charger :dunno:

The LX3 does have purple line streaks under certain conditions. I was trying out at COMEX 2008

woah!

And that's only a ceiling lights... floodlights and strobes how?

erm, think its a common problem with compact cam live-views, doesn't really affect the final picture I think..

Hi, I've checked. The streaks in the preview do not affect the final picture.

Oh, btw the dynamic range is crazy.

Just took a shot from my room with the blinds down... used the spot meter to measure the metering.
Brightest area (just below the blinds) is 1/40 f/2.0 ISO 80
Darkest area (black jacket) is 6 seconds, f/2.0, ISO 400 (had to cheat cos the LX3 won't meter anywhere near that at ISO 80. Just gives me the red 8 seconds limit)

Picture was taken at 1/5 f/2.0, ISO 80 using RAW developed in Silkypix.

This gives a dynamic range of 1280, or 10.3 stops. Even if you discount the last stop, it's 9.3 stops. Really really crazy for a compact.

Highlight range seems to be max +3 stops over the metered, but i'd recommend being careful about that point so you don't blow out.

Shadow range... about 6 stops, maybe abit more if you want to push it, but be careful of posterization.

I realised the LX3's RAW file is 10mb liddat... not sure what compression they use for it.

Any comments?
Cheers=)
