how long are you talking about when writing to the camera? RAW or Jpeg? or even RAW+Jpeg?

i think about 1-2 sec. Just Jpeg. Am I wrong when think that once i take a photo, i can focus and take another one immediately?

Should I need to use a faster speed card, like class 4,6. Mine is class 2.

i havent tried on a class 2 card simply.. i dont have 1... :embrass: all of my cards are either class4 and 6. what i do know is, a slower card = needs a longer time to clear the buffer, esp. during video recording whereby the megabytes just get used up really quickly..

did you set the auto review time to be Off? else i dont think you can take a picture immed. after a picture. (feel free to correct me if i am wrong)

yr right. I set the autoreview to 2 sec (default).

How about the zoom issue. I experience that after I zoom and release the zoom button, the lens keep zooming for haft a second before stopping.

sounds like a codec issue to me..
i am using vlc player.. and my laptop is 1.5years old, desktop is 4yrs old. both no issues.. :think:

Hi, fellow LX3 users.... need advice from u all. With aperture F2.0 , I am able to achieve "bokeh effect" for macro like shooting flowers or leaves but tt is only cos the subject is close up with short focusing distance. But I realize I cant achieve the same "bokeh effect" when using F2.0 to focus on something in the background tt is far away from the cam. Issit normal?

its normal.... when you focus on distant objects, the effect is reduced....
cause its a wide angle lens....
unless you are using the DSLR type of lens, then its possible....

Guys, I noe our cam has great low light performance but like to ask if say u shootin in low light places like some "romantic" restaurants or pubs, will u shoot in hi ISO(400 or 800) w flash or hi ISO(400 or 800) w/o flash? sorry, still new to this cam:think:

It depends.
Personally direct flash from a pop-up unit isn't as flattering as not using flash (unless you are talking about fill flash which isn't as noticeable).

So to flash or not to flash depends on what shutter speed you are able to achieve even with the stated ISO. If I can get a properly exposed pic with a good shutter speed (that results in a sharp photo) without flash then that's what I'll go for.

But sometimes that's just not possible - in which case a pic with flash beats a blurry pic anyday.

you will not be able to achieve the very nice blurring effect that comes will long zoom lenses... when using the LX3....
cause of the wide angle and short zoom, its impossible to achieve the nice blur effect that comes with long zooms...

eg:




with the LX3, the blurring effect is best exhibited when shooting macro, but the shooting of portrait, if you use f2, it is still very good compared to other digicams,
if you are looking at very smooth bokeh when shooting portrait, DSLR is the only way now...
unless they come up with some very good technology, else not possible...

but after all is said, the LX3 is a very impressive overall camera.... really very impressive!!!
the landscape and portrait shots are comparable to DSLR, albeit not being able to achieve the bluring effect....
