Hi all, just bought mind 3 weeks ago.Hope to learn something from you guys or gals that know tis camera well.;)
I know tis camera can do quite alot, that why i want to make full use of it and hope you all can assist me.;)

Can someone tell me how much disc space will it take if I were to shoot 1 hour of HD video continuosly. This will determine what size HCSD card to use. I guess the camera will allow non-stop video recording until card is full.

Based on the manual...

Motion pictures can be recorded continuously for up to 15 minutes. Recording exceeding 2GB is not possible.

For HD, 1GB approx equal to 5 minutes.

So if I interpret the manual correctly with the above limitation, you can record at most 10 minutes for HD at one go. Then stop & start again.

hey guys was a convert from the G9 any idea how we can manually place the focusing points or do u guys use the AE/AL lock thingy? seems for the LX3 we have to go to "menus" to access this function.

There is a button "Focus" beside the shutter trigger. Press that button and u can move ur focus box around using the joystick.

Finally succumbed to poison... just got my LX3 from MS Colours. Am I too late to join the compact f/2.0 bandwagon? :)

A brief play with the camera makes me feel like this is what a Nikon D40 is to dSLR - this is one camera that doesn't intimidate while at the same time gives you full control.

... now while my battery gently charging...

Was in MS colour today and bought the pouch for the LX 3 for $20 and also a lowe pro A60 for $25. Hope I got a good price.

I was there too in the evening. Yeah, Florence told me she sold 10 today. How true I won't know, but it sure is selling fast!

You got a Lowepro too? I'd think the case is enough.

price still 699 with card and case and batt?

Just got it, yes it is $699 incl. gst with a Lumix case (shown in post #248), a 4 gig Lexar hi-speed SDHC, additional battery and a screen protector. Most stores like Parisilk, MS and MAX offers $680 incl. gst with a lumix case and a Lexar 4 gig SDHC. Plenty of stocks maybe cos SITEX next week.

Yep, as stated by tim, $699 inclusive GST and card/case/batt/screen protector. Do note that the case is the generic Lumix model, not the more expensive retro looking one.

I think the best way to learn how to shoot in aperture mode or shutter mode or Manual mode is to learn about different settings in different lighting in P mode.
When you are in P mode, try pointing your camera to the bright blue sky, remember the settings at the bottom of your lcd screen, then try pointing your camera in darker corners. There is a lot of things that you can experience, using a manual ps camera, for instance, freezing with fast shutter speed, or creating motion with a low shutter speed.
Enjoy your ride with LX3. U definitely enjoy it more than your ex fully auto cam.:)

the LX3 does indeed give the BEST value for you money and is definitely the BEST digicam right now...
the f2 lens gives it the best bokeh that is not achievable by other digicam....
and the wide angle... and the ability to shift the focus point around...

all these attracted me to get this camera...

it seems like this bokeh effect is only acheivable when the subject is very close ie macro mode, i have not seen any shot of bokeh with human subject, is that correct?

no, it is possible to achieve this not in the macro mode, if you shoot wide open at f2.0, the bokeh will be very beautifully rendered....
other digicam just can't give you this.... :)

Thank you INOTION bro,i will try playing around with the camera of what you have advise.
Maybe after i try i can take some photo and upload so that you can give some comment on it.;)
