LX3 Users Discussion Part II

hi,

i just got my lx3 today.. so consider new user..

just tested on the night shoots and very happy with the results..

one thing i like to ask the pros is.. when i set shutter 30secs.. after the 30secs, the camera will need another 30secs to process the photos.. i think this is the NR..

anyone knows how to off the NR? cos i prefer doing NR using photoshop plugins..

Do any expert on LX3 knows why

1) When I take a shot in the dark, it captures 3 images at one go, where 2 images cannot be use at all cause of the darkness, I wonder what setting I have done and I can't reverse it.

2) Actually I was in a restaurant *low lighting* and I wanted to shoot the delicious food that came out, but to my sadness the LX3 didnt come out as it should, have played with the ev setting, yet it still comes out dark, I had tried with the FLASH, but it was over powering, image of person and food would be whitewash, any tips on a good setting?

Much appreciated for all your help.

1) You might have turn on the exposure bracketing function. Meaning it will take 3 pics in a row. One with normal exposure, one with increased exposure, and one with decreased exposure.

2) You might want to try out the food mode in the 'SCENE" mode. I tried a couple of times, find the result acceptable...

thanks bro, it was great advice will do the food scene in low lighting again

how do you actually turn on that exposure bracketing function?
thanks in advance

i think in the 4 direction button press the up-button will do.

Extracted online:
Beside the joystick is a dedicated focus/exposure lock button – this is self-explanatory; it allows you to lock focus/exposure so you can recompose the shot. Next we have a camera status light and five way navigation pad:

Up – Exposure compensation (+/-2 EV in 1/3 steps)/Exposure bracketing
Down – Function; a shortcut button that you can customize
Left – Self timer (Off, 2 seconds, 10 seconds)
Right – Flash setting (Auto, auto with red-eye reduction, on, slow sync with red-eye reduction, off)
Center – Main menu/Set

(1) Did u set to blast mode in the scene menu? it auto take 3 shot with quick shutter speed resulting ur image to be dark .....

(2) take note in low lighting if u put auto ISO, most likely the ISO will automatically adjusted higher resulting in noisy photos .... normally i try to do it this way
-a) find a good spot at the dining table without causing too much stress to ppls around me ... (good spot as in got sufficient lighting for you to take photos :> )
-b) Try food mode
-c) Try Aperture mode - + EV + saturation
-d) dont use flash bah will spoil the color in dark ambient (IMO)

Not if I post at right session....
Question and helps need here....I not sure if I have messed up the setting...now my LX3 flash function no able to work...even if I use IA (Auto mode) in low light condition the flash wont auto pop-up... I also tried manual press the flash button to let the flash pop-up but then while shooting pressing the shutter button, still no flash fire....

can anyone know what is the problem? Or is there any reset button to factory setting?

Apparently you can do that in LX5, have you tried upgrading the firmware for your LX3 first?

Unfortunately that's one of the limits of LX3.

Even my old TZ15 can zoom in/out during video shooting.
