there is another lens attached (screwed) to this it is labeled "Macro"..should i be using this lens seperately from the wide angle.. the above pix are taken with the "Macro" + the wide angle lens...i havent got the time to play around much..sorry for asking..hehee..

another question..when best to use this kind of setup (wide angle)? landscape pix?

How much you pay for the it?

What's the better option, to get the original 46mm lense adapter and use step-up ring for 52mm, or get any 52mm 3rd party adapter (pandabase etc.) to use 52mm filters/lenses? will there be any vig. using the original 46mm adapter and step-up rings?
Please help! I need to know if there is any vignetting/distortion using step-up rings+adapter on the LX3!

I just received the set from pandabase and i think the quality of the lens and adaptor is good. I think you got to unscrew the macro for wideangle pictures taking.

regards

without the macro lens the distortion is so intense and there is vignetting at all corners. think I post pix later. it does create an interesting effect tho' but I prefer the wide angle lens with the macro lens.

As it is stated use it by itself for Macro shots.

oh ya...the wide-con function was off...just realised there is this function from another thread

For people who use the 52mm adapter, think carefully, though the 3rd party one is rather cheap. No, I am not saying that the ebay adapter is lousy, it is rather good though, solid build.

1 thing I still cannot decide now is, what case to use for my LX3 with 52mm adapter on. If I use the Lowepre Apex 60, or similar one from other brand, they fit, but rather big size. it kind of defeat the purpose of using a LX3. So, until now, I still haven't buy any pouch yet, caz I don't know if I want such big pouch or not. I saw a few rather nice one, but can only fit LX3 without adapter.

Another thing to take note is, when use adapter, and using the camera flash, there will be a shadow ......

the original 46mm adaptor will produce shadow too for macro shots..

Yup, I got hold of the wide angle lense too, gotta use external flash if flash is needed!

Actually, we don't need to use the adapter all the time. Attached as and when required without worrying about specialised body casing.

Just use a self-made diffuser with the flash to eliminate or reduce the shadow effect. Lots of instructional guides on the web.

For me my wide conversion lens is a permanent setup.

Have you considered the invisible shield for LX3? It's pretty good. Casing or no casing doesn't matter.

Nope, I never liked invisible shield and over time they will peel.

Is it the norm for the wide angle adapter to churn out pictures with soft edges and vignetting?

I am not too sure abt other wide angle lens but this one I bought frm eBay comes with a macro lens. the picture u mention is with ONLY the wide angle lens. vignette and distortion is very extreme (I feel). but if the macro lens is attached with the wide angle the picture turns out better (picture below the one u quote). no vignette and softer blurring at corners/edges.
